All the cams for the hydraulic heads will go in the 2E to the best of my knowledge.

I wouldn't scrap kjet in favour of standalone, far too big a job IMO. I had a mk1 that did 177bhp @7700, at the crank as an 1800 with a flowed head and 282 degree cam, headers and system. As a 2 litre with the same head it only did 166 but was more torquey. The 1800 would rev much better than the 2 litre as well.

The 1800 was really economical but to get the power from the 2 litre at the top end the thing ran rich everywhere else and was pretty duff on fuel as a result.

I am sure that chips are available in europe for the 2E so you could do a cam and flowed head and get an off the shelf chip for it.

are extractors / headers off the original 1.8 going to fit on the 2E?
I think Andrew ran extractors on it when he had it and lost power, but i want to try some once i get the head work done and see what gains i can make.

I got the cam from CVWC (Canberra VW Centre - yes another shameless plug for Pete!!!!) and they also fitted a Microtech. Both of which came from OZ. I would spend another $500 and get a better computer next time, though I really cant complain as this one does an outstanding job for the dollars that I shelled out for it.
MK1 floG soon to have 16v 2L with cable change gbox - need a 16v turbo manifold

Maybe its just good advice, rather than taking your money for little gain.

The ecu is what holds back your motor if you change the computer you will get big gains with a cam. You could port and polish your head and put a cam in and it`ll go better. Cam on its own is about as usefull as a chip on its own

I am sure they do a little bit more than make money for the seller. The chips only cost pennies so he is going to make money out of it. I don't reckon its funding a champagne lifestyle though.

Will update the thread when it arrives and I have had a run round the block.
