piggyback units can only ever manipulate input/outputs of the ecu to make more power, its not the proper way. You will never go wrong with a flash. Look into companys like giac, custom code, oettinger, revo, dna tuning (not sure if they do tdi)
I have been searching through the forums and can't find much in the way of tunes for GTD's. I know Bluefin & Oettinger (Not sure if APR does) do chips/tunes for them, but I came across these while googling away, VW Golf MK6 2.0 TDI 170 PS 350 Nm | Diesel Tuning with CHIP Express™ & Chiptuning RaceChip - Volkswagen Golf VI GTD 2.0 TDI CR, 1968ccm, 125kW (ca.170PS). Now I'm only new to the whole VW thing, but has anyone used these and are they any good? Or is my gut feeling right and they're just rubbish?
Cheers,
Chris

I'd look into Custom Code mate, Ive heard some good reviews overseas from diesel customers, also they offer more than just a 'stage 1' tune for diesels unlike other companies
CC also did a DPF delete for the mk5 GT TDI which netted quite healthy HP gains. It will only be a matter of time before CC release something like that for the GTD aswell(hopefully)

VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life
There are few things more satisfying in life than finding a solution to a problem and implementing it

If that is the gains they saw on the MkV, I'd be very interested if they did this for the GTD170PD Unit just not powerful enough? How about an increase to 220-230bhp and 330-350lb/ft![]()

Just a tip mate. All Australian delivered GTD's have a newly encrypted ECU. Companies are unable to flash it through the cars serial port, the ECU need to be physically removed instead. This factor will limit your choice of companies.
Either way keep us updated with which way you go.

I didn't know that, cheers for the heads up
I will be heading down to Brisbane to see the family in December, so I might see if I can get it done while I'm down there, that is unless someone in Townsville is able to? But I haven't heard of anyone up here.
Also, I see you have coilovers, does this void the warranty? I know I work at VW, but no one at my dealership has been able to give me a answer... :/

Having just moved from Townsville I can tell you there is no one there that tunes VW's, so Brissy is the go.Coilovers will not void a warranty unless they directly contribute to a fault, ie, your suspension bushes failing due to the coilovers. Coilovers are also legal in Qld if they use stock mounting points and you don't go lower than the 100mm ground clearance. If you are looking for other VDubbers in Townsville, look up Steve (forum name Kadena). He is very automotivly knowledgeable, and a top bloke too...
