Are we talking coolant or oil breather here? That is a catch tank and not a surge tank in your pic: you can run the crank case vent hose straight to it. The second fitting on the tank is because most engines have a top end breather aswell; you can easily weld one onto the 16v rocker cover, and it's not such a bad idea to do it if you have access to a tig welder.

I've just sorted a proper oil cooler to mine. Between that and a new rad I'm hoping to see lower oil temps. Used to see 120 - 130C on spirited runs...
You don't have to but seeing as it's not in the car yet!
