Off the pipe on the side of the engine under the dissy. Loops to the overflow on the rad with the other end.

Are we talking coolant or oil breather here? That is a catch tank and not a surge tank in your pic: you can run the crank case vent hose straight to it. The second fitting on the tank is because most engines have a top end breather aswell; you can easily weld one onto the 16v rocker cover, and it's not such a bad idea to do it if you have access to a tig welder.

It's all good. If he wants a show car, he can just take them both off like all the muppets overseas

I've just sorted a proper oil cooler to mine. Between that and a new rad I'm hoping to see lower oil temps. Used to see 120 - 130C on spirited runs...

You don't have to but seeing as it's not in the car yet!

Those catch cans are not very good. I once had one identical to the one i the photo. I had it in the car for maybe 2 years and it didnt even have 5 ml of oil in it. There is no way your going to need a 1 litre can, unless there is something seriously wrong with ur engine.

The problem with the cheap catch can in the photo above is that it is designed to be fed back into the intake manifold. If you get a top quality catch can then you will see that its vented to the atmosphere (illegal in Aust.) with a miniture pod filter.

The idea of reducing the amount of oil vapour, going into the engine, is very good. Oil does not combust like petrol does and mixing oil vapour with the petrol reduces the petrols energy discharge.

I think it would be more appropriate using some other type of filtering for that purpouse. I have seen guys use air compressor moisture filters with good results.
