If anyone is interested, www.horschcarbon.com.au in Melbourne is looking for MK7.5 Golf R to test fit a carbon fibre front lip (develop a new lip).

    If interested contact them directly.

Got my car back today from Mr Detail. They were recommended by a friend, and I am very happy with the result. The blue looks brighter!

I got the Gyeon Ceramic on it. With the interior also detailed. Got to get that discover pro screen covered with iPad protector or something already marked.

I’d requested the dealer not to touch the car, so when I picked it up it was full of sticker marks, sloppy wash at the dealer left light paint swirls... getting the car back today all done up was awesome!

    Now back to enjoying it.

If you drive country roads I would recommend looking at clear plastic something like XPEL had my R 7.5 Wolfy done full bonnet, bar including grill black trim and leading edge of guards, luggage lip, b pillars, mirror caps and headlight lenses covered it's not cheap but under 2K I've covered 8K with zero stone chips. It's real peace of mind not worrying about stone chips used to really piss me off not a problem now. Highly recommend this addition. Considering the pain of stone chips or a respray money well spent.

Thanks Rosslm, I considered the plastic wrap but was a bit too high. But don’t do too much country travel . Appreciate the info.

Still enjoying driving the car but get the feeling the car is just too simple to drive. Too many features that take the feel out of driving.

No manual option in the Wagon. Paddles can’t replicate the feel.
Lane guidance, which is coercing you back into the lane.
Parking assist that’s constantly turning down the radio and letting you know somethings too close.
Adaptive cruise (ok, this one is great on a long drive)

I dunno. Best car I’ve owned, heaps of fun to drive, great sound system, but if this is where technology is taking driving, it’s definitely going to be less fun in the future.

This is what I’m thinking too. I’m thinking of switching off lane guidance to get some fun back. The park pilot is annoying, agreed.

The CarPlay is hit an miss. If I connect before turning the car on I have success all the time. If I start the car first and then connect my phone it’s hit and miss. Niggles

Prob not the best car I’ve owned (yet) but has good power which I enjoy. Now I need to use the paddles more.

CarPlay still seems to be a work in progress for VW. It has good days and bad days.

My R is a manual with no DAP - essentially what VW now sell as the Grid car (except I beat them to it 2 years ago). I felt that the DSG-equipped car was soulless and uninteresting to drive. The manual brings that back but VW have clearly optimised the car around DSG so having a manual causes other operational niggles instead!

I think that I will end up with a DSG-equipped MK 8 for the daily and something a lot more basic for fun!

I find the new 7 speed DSG really usable, get Stage 1 or a JB4 nothing souless or uninteresting in this combo. I think the base R has such a refined and competent chassis that yes it can feel dull but use it's capability to the fullest and it's anything but boring.

I posted this review in the Golf R thread worth a look if you haven't seen it.
