what do I do to get additional exhaust sound that everyone raves about? At the moment I just pull the lever back and put it in sports, I can hear a bit of additional noise as it goes up or down a gear.

Is that it? or am I having to turn something else on/off.

It’s nowhere near as loud as I had expected, which is ok.

There are two sound factors. The in cabin soundaktor thingy (sounds like a WRX) is controlled from the drive mode or engine sound setting in individual on the screen.

The exhaust crackles and pops, which I think that you are after, are when the engine mode is in RACE (or when activated through individual) AND you need to have the DSG in sport mode as well. Then, you usually need to have the windows down and the stereo off, otherwise only those in the street will hear it. If you drive around in D, you won’t hear crackles when you lift off.

Also, if you have a hatch, then you need to re-press the engine mode button every time you get in order to open the exhaust flaps which close on engine shut down. Us wagon owners don’t have that issue because our cars are better and don’t have stupid flaps

    ^ROFLMAO.

I didn't even know the system had more to give.. I'll have to give this a crack tomorrow.

I am actually quite impressed with the changes to S mode now, it's actually somewhat viable around town and will still kick up a gear backing off; whereas S previously was a pointless exercise unless you were going balls-out..

just wanted to say thanks everyone for the encouragement & advice in the forum, I picked up my Wolfie today.

You guys were right. It's a fantastic little car - over the moon with it. Well worth the wait. I am upgrading from a 2007 2.0 TDI, loved every minute of the drive home.

Thanks! Lapiz with the sunroof - will post some photos once I've got the windows tinted & paint protection done, just so it's looking its best

Have had my Wolfy for about 4 weeks now and I thought I might share a couple of observations. Having come from a 2014 GTI Performance I have found the increased performance in the R to be very gratifying, however like many have mentioned on this forum I found the need to do something about the pedal lag especially when in DSG non sport mode. I have since fitted a Pedal Box + and have found the difference to be chalk and cheese. It now really feels like it should and the lag is now virtually non existent. I am still experimenting with the settings. If there is anyone thinking about doing this, from what I have experienced so far this is a no brainer and I’m very happy with the results. It appears others have had very good results with other mods to improve performance (jb4 et al) but as a mod which doesn’t alter the engine itself I am impressed by what it does.

I have also had Pomponazzi treatment on the paint work. It’s early days but certainly the car really shines. I know it’s not cheap and there are other good products out there but hopefully over time it will prove to be worth the money. It certainly is easy to wash and clean. I have already had some staining with sap from leaves left on the car during a very hot day but was easily able to clean and remove the stain whereas without some protection this may not have been possible, or at least very difficult.

Love the Lapiz blue. Love the car and really enjoying the drive. Well worth the very long wait for it to arrive. Happy days.

Maybe better off with the oetingger spoiler. Not sure if they fit on 7.5, you would have to ask the dealer

Thx I'll have a look (probably leave it as suggested..). The 40 Yr isn't compatible to fit on the R.

DAP - Very impressive. Followed a car down the coast for about 10km with round abouts and ups and downs and stopping. Didn't touch the brake or throttle at all. Passenger was freaking out but I said you can trust it cos it's German...das good.

AndroidAuto - Used Google Maps with live traffic and it's great. Use VLC for playing music....

Dynaudio - Listening to FM radio stations will not do justice to the system due to the broadcasting bit rate etc. Convert your favourite music to MP3 with the highest bitrate (specially songs with beats)...set to Dynamic with full bass and high volume and see the car vibrate and feel your sternum being crushed with the beats and then you'll understand the superiority of the system... you won't get this listening to your ABC classicals...

DAB - Manual says it has the capacity but no option under radio stations. Is this feature deactivated for Australia? The work car - Territory has it... love listening to the 'old school' broadcast....

LaunchControl - Will test out on the weekend...
