My Wolfsburg 7.5 - 7R Member's Rides - VW R Owners Club
Called VWA and pushed them to give me an update on my car, apparently started build yesterday and due for delivery Feb which works perfect for me. At one point was pushed out to Mar/Apr and came so close to pulling the pin! Might have to call them back in a couple of weeks and if its for sure being built, don't really see that ETA changing. Hope it helps anyone else out there struggling day to day waiting for the car!
2018 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg Edition Hatch - Lapiz Blue / Sunroof
Cheers @rambleforce. I am loving the wolf, planning on a nice trip maybe up the coast this week.
Picked up my car today. Colour looks great in the sun. Leather is a big step up on previous versions. The bigger boot is excellent and I much prefer the look of the wagon. Haven’t quite got the seat where I want it which strange as it’s supposed to be the same as the last car but with electric adjustment. The memory part is great.
Still getting used to the new dash screen. Stereo is good, better than the Mk 7 for sure (and it was quality) but it’s not as good as a decent aftermarket 10” sub system would be. The speakers aren’t broken in yet.
The wheels came wrapped in P-Zero’s. Not sure what the rest of you are getting. I miss my Michelin Super Sports, but I’ll check the pressures tomorrow before commenting further. Suffice to say that the Pirelli’s squeal and slide where the Super Sports were quiet and gripped.
The engine feels more lively than the Mk 7 did. It seems to have a bit more top end zip. The exhaust has a few more crackles on the overrun but I could see myself doing a res delete...
Brakes feel mushier than before. Maybe they just need bedding in a bit better.
The gear box is great. My first DSG. Any muppet who tries to drive a DSG vigorously in D, and then complains about how rubbish it is, needs to be slapped. D is for getting from A to B. In M it’s a great tool for wringing the cars neck but I’m still having to think about which gear I’m in rather than doing it on instinct. S is...I dunno yet. Probably won’t use it much.Haven’t played with drive settings too much either.
Got the roof bars on for the bike racks. They are Whispbar rail bars that I nicked off my wife’s Passat. If anyone else is getting these - S53W - don’t waste $60 on the “fitting kit” It’s simply four M8 x 35 mm cup head, stainless steel hex bolts. Cost about $1 each in Bunnings. I could only get the security version but at least the bars will be harder to pilfer.
Looking for:- RS4 B7 Avant.
Current:- Amarok V6 Sportline; Mazda CX-9 Azami AWD
Previous - Mk 6 R manual; Mk 7 R manual; Passat 130 TDi Wagon. Mk 7.5 Wolfsburg Wagon.
Nice Paul_R.
Ive got the exact same setup as you, wagon, blue no roof.
I dont miss the roof although it would have been a nice addition.
Can i ask how much you paid, and where you got it from, Im wondering if my 66k was a good driveaway price with euro plates.
Sounds pretty good to me - they were asking 65k for me a few months back for the hatchback, no roof. They wouldn't budge for me.

So you swapped out a normal Golf R with DAP for a Wolfy Wagon? Same price?
If so, that's bloody good.
