Waterpump/thermostat housings can leak.
I suggest you try a DSG (TCU) tune first, then after trying that out then decide whether you want an ECU tune.
Hey guys,
Looking at picking up a used golf r Wolfsburg wagon.
Any year models I should steer clear from? Preferably looking at mk7 (not 7.5) so I assume not much difference in years.
Any common problems on them? Was considering an ECU map and maybe an exhaust.
Thanks in advance

First major concern with Mk 7 Wolfsburg wagon, 22,000 Km
Very loud ( oh Fk!) metallic clunk from LHS while slowly (20kmh) turning right at round about.
Lost ‘feel’ in accelerator and engine felt like it went into neutral.
Pulled over expecting to be able to see something major hanging off or lodged in my wheel.
Drove another km to get home, and was able to recreate similar feel in pedal and ongoing metallic noise while at very low speed and performing 3 point turn. Def seems to be worse while in reverse.
Waiting for service depot to confirm time to come in and if it’s advisable to drive or should tow.
Any help advice on what might’ve happened would be welcome. The mobile VW guy suggested drive shaft, but we had trouble recreating the noise when he was here.
Great car. I have this too. Never had any issues.
