Took the plunge

Got an "EBILAEN Wireless Carplay Android Auto Module" from Ali Express

Hooked it up and so far all is well
Audio sounds good, phone works (but there MAY be echo issues), Carplay works, steering wheel controls all behave predictably

Just an enormous pain to cram all the extra cables back in the main control unit and there's nowhere accessible to store the new controller (mine is velcroed to the top of the passenger side footwell)

watch yourself mister.. talking about parts from aliexpress is a ridicule worthy offence around here.... you need to have confirmation from one of the VWWC master techs with an approved retail parts store for parts.. especially if the part works well then thats a bannable offence.. just letting you know

I hope you're joking given that VW no longer provide map updates or reasonable support for the MIB1
