Did you have them switched front to rear?

They said they were going to but was too frustrated to think straight and ask when I picked it up

If you have family member or a friend who has a Vw with the same pcd pattern and is close to you, swap all four wheels and take it for a drive. See if anything regarding noise changes.
Tyres make noise, some more than others. More they are worn, louder they get.

this sounds like tyre noise, what tyres are you using because the ones I got were really thin and wheel noise was pretty present.

If it were tyre noise, how come it only started 1000kms ago? My car was brand new and now has about 3500 kms on it. Also shouldn't all 4 tyres make the noise then? And if it's only the one tyre, would that represent a warranty claim for a new tyre?

Ask to drive a demo GTI with the same tyres, if they have one. Try to compare the road noise.

Also, what tyre pressures do you run in it? Too low and they'll rumble a bit.

Always pump 38 and check it every fortnight. Will goto the dealer where I bought my car to compare next week

You'll get to the bottom of it one way or another.

If it's tyres, you might have to put up with it until they wear out, and opt for a different tread pattern. Otherwise, you'll have to chase the tyre manufacturer for warranty.

Gonna rotate the wheels tomorrow so fingers crossed. Was thinking of putting it in the left rear side as it's further away in case VW decide not to fix it

Update, put the front left wheel to the back and guess what, the sound has moved to the back but it's a little softer probably due to being further away? Still hums at the same speed. VW might actually be correct about the tyres being at fault. Anybody had tyres changed under warranty?
