VWA just sent out a bulletin to inform us that the Golf 7 will no longer be able to receive the Park Assist 2 function as part of the Driver Assistance Package. The Package is still available, but the feature was discontinued.

Basically, the system can potentially damage the vehicle as well as another inadvertently. If the vehicle in front is a ute or a vehicle with a tray on it, the ultrasonic sensors will be unable to detect the real length of the car in front, causing damage to both cars.

VWA say this is an interim measure as the car software is being reprogrammed right now in Germany to cater for our market and the feature is to be reintroduced in the coming months. Cars built in July, August and potentially September will not have the feature.
