Get them to replace the roof lining, if they do a crap job, get them to do it again, and again and again untill they do it properly.

Gee after reading your post I'm starting to think that this water mark thing is more common than I originally thought, also a guy on a South African forum has the same problem, I just can't think of where the water is getting in, other than the rubber boots where the wiring goes, on the hatch.
It's been 3 weeks since I took my Golf in to be checked and I was told the roof lining has arrived and it will be replaced next week.
I'm starting to get a bad feeling about my Golf as I have experienced another fault, driving around town the other day I stopped on a hill and applied the foot brake, I was suspecting the HSA and Park Brake to engage. The next minute the car started rolling back and I noticed a warning light and a message come on the instrument display "park brake malfunction". I tried numerous times to get the HSA to work but no luck until I pulled over and the stopped and restarted the engine, it makes you wonder how problematic this Auto Brake and HSA will be in the future when the car gets older.
Also the radio reception on FM with my car is really poor, as soon as you get around 10- 20 klm out of town the damn thing keeps fading out, I think this only applies to cars without the reversing camera option.

Water leak rear headliner Golf 7 Wagon

    Hi all,

I have just noticed a light water line, running from one side of the rear headliner to the other, has anyone had a similar issue? I've checked the rubber seals and can't see anything loose, anyone got any ideas as to the source of the leak?

I thought I was the only one...

No water ingress, didn't really worry about as you have to know it's there to find it.

Did you have any repair done to your car by any chance?

Thats damn near identical to mine, and no, I don't have a sunroof and have had no work or repairs done on the car.

Not sure how long its been there as dry inside, just a faint line from one side to the other. I only noticed it today when getting some gear out of the back. Design flaw perhaps ?

I think it's a bad batch of roof liners to be honest. It's never been damp.

When was your car made? Mine was March 2015. Pretty sure it's been there since new

Mine is a November 15 build, it lives undercover so can't imagine how it would get wet.

As a motor trimmer by trade I can add a comment on this one , be aware where the roof lining finishes in some cars the edge of the roof trim is tucked under the rear tailgate seal . If the seal is not seated properly water can get under and the roof lining will act like a sponge and just draw the water into the fabric . I saw this with some brand new Holden many years ago that had sunroofs fitted by HBD in Adelaide , I pointed out what they had done wrong with the roof linings as they were sucking water from around the tops of the door seals . Worth checking .
