thanks
I'm also pretty fond of the Pretorias, the Cadiz don't really do it for me. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of negotiation going with the Wolfsburg though. The dealers seem pretty confident they'll sell them all at retail. The best I could do was $63,125 D/A with sunroof, no extended warranty.
I figured I'd take a lower price and swap the wheels later if I still feel like it.

Does anyone have firm information on the differences are between the Australian and OS version of the Golf R. Why is the European version 221kW, and Australian 206kW?
New MY16 brochure link is now active http://www.volkswagen.com.au/content...dition_3.file/
I was hoping for my infotainment information but I guess there's not really that much too it. A colleague has a MY16 Scirocco R and and MY14 92TSI (I think) and says the Apple car play is a little buggy, but it is most likely an update he applied to his phone rather than the VW side of things. He did note the new screen looks 1000% better and is much more responsive. No lag at all.
Good to see VAG are proof reading their stuff properly as well - they've listed the 110TDI as a direct injection petrol on page 14.
It may be a pre released version of the brochure, as it doesn't appear to be linked from the main web site yet. I got to it by playing with the URL to figure out how they name each years new model.
I have an MY16 with CarPlay and it is truly great. If you want some pics from the manual I'm happy to post. There's not much more in there though. Just plug in and use.
Ah OK. I didn't realize that. Sneaky lol.
Thanks for the offer but no need. I'll have my car sometime in September so I'll let the excitement build a bit more haha. Your description of plug and play matches that of my colleague, although I am using Android so may experience my be different. Probably better (shots fired)
VW has updated their Australian website with the MY16 details, but still not able to do a configuration. Had a quick play of the new carplay .. straight forward, just plug and play. the key is PLUG as it does require a physical connection to your phone. Luckily VWA gives us a standard USB port instead of a propriety connection in other countries.
Audi's 110tsi has Cylinder on demand, wonder if the VW version is the same.
