VW GOLF R slight judder on downshift

    Hey guys -

I just recently bought a second hand Mk7 Golf R and while I love the thing, in race mode, when the car downshifts (as I'm slowing down) from 2nd gear to 1st gear, there is a slight jerk of the car as the RPMs spike due to the gear change

Is this normal behaviour? It doesn't do it in the other drive modes - just "race". I'm a little concerned at this point. Any guidance would be really appreciated

My Skoda vRS does that - although depends on how quickly I'm decelerating (hard braking works well, gentle braking gives this problem)
I don't think it's judder, it's just not perfectly matching the road speed and engine rpm

Why is the DSG selecting 1st before the car has come to a stop?

In sport or race mode it's ready for you to nail the throttle and take off prior to coming to complete stop

Oh, kinda makes sense. You'd think it would do a better job of matching the revs then.

Are you manual shifting or leaving it in D/S?

It was left in D/S - slowing down as I approach a light it downshifts to 1st and I get a little forward judder as the RPMs spike up to 3-4k and I continue breaking.
