Unfortunately pretty common with dealers to omit certain important pieces of information.
Always get the offer in writing. That way it’s clear what is included and what isn’t.

I have just purchased a Demo golf R but had a hard time at the dealers.
I called the up last week and negotiated a deal over the phone I was happy with.
I thought I was negotiating a drive away price but when I visited to sign the contract, under 'Special Conditions' the purchaser is liable for stamp duty. I wanted to cancel the deal but was told I would lose my deposit and that it is common for the purchaser to pay stamp duty on demo's. So I copped it, partly my fault for not checking.
I also told the salesperson that day that my finance has been approved but the money may not come through until the next week. I was reassured that would be no problem as long as the car was out at the end of the month.
The day after receiving the contract I got a phone call from the salesman saying the car needed to be picked up in three days (today) otherwise I would lose my deposit. They then kindly offered to arrange dealer finance for me.
Luckily I was able to arrange a temporary loan from a family member but it is not what I wanted to do.
I have the car now, I am happy with the car itself but not at all happy with the dealer. I had bought from this dealer previously and was happy with them. I assumed they would be upfront and honest dealing with me but maybe that's my mistake. I don't know if I am particularly naive or the dealer was deliberately misleading honest but I am pretty pissed about the whole thing.

Yeah I should of checked and had the deal written down however they would not do the deal on the phone without a deposit being paid. Once the deposit was paid I was caught. I did not expect such underhanded behavior, it has really taken me by surprise.
Congrats on the new car.
Sounds like you got a dud sales person, of which there is a 8 in 10 chance. Unfortunately rude and dodgy tactics are sometimes part of the car purchasing experience. If you find a nice one great, if you find a dud either find someone else or play their game.
I dealt with nearly all VW dealers in Sydney when buying my car. My observation was that the closer the dealership was to the city the worse the sales team were.
Another observation is that there is a high turn over of staff when it comes to car sales.
Do you want to name the dealer?

Arteon & T-Roc
Its a dealership in Southern Sydney. They have given me first scheduled service free so that is something. The sales people are all quite new, the one I was dealing with had only there been six weeks. This dealership at least used to have a good reputation, not sure why they feel the need to be sneaky like that. I will be putting this one down to experience. Defiantly the last VW for me.

Don’t think that VW salespeople are the only ones that would do something like that. Unfortunately it’s pretty much across the industry.
Find a good salesperson and reward them by repeat business.
