VW- 6 year/100,00 Km warranty - when in the Antipodes?

It's happened in the US -- ALL VW MY18 models now appear to be covered by a 6 year/72,000 miles bumper-to-bumper warranty in the land of the free!

When will it happen here? Do we need a "movement" to urge VW Australia to copy the yanks (and I don't mean the type of movement that happens in the toilet!)?

All new VWs now have 6-year/72,000-mile warranty - Autoblog

Don't they have lemon laws in the US?

I doubt VW will voluntarily come to the party until they think it's starting to hit their bottom line.

They will need to move in line with the local market at some point.

As much as I would like to see the same warranty in Aus, I think there is a snowflake's chance in hell. Ditto genuine lemon laws from this government.

I agree, I doubt it will ever happen here and really can anybody see our inept gutless politicians ever passing legislation to fully protect Australian consumers, as in US lemon laws. That would be like bitting off the hand that feeds them.
Well that the last negativity from me for 2017 I promise.

Eventually they will be forced to move in line with the market which is trending towards longer warranties - although as it will be priced into the product anyway it's not really a 'costly' move for VW Oz to follow. But we also know they are one of the most poorly run corporations in Australia so..

As for inept politicians.. well we are an inept population that howls down any hope of meaningful reform in almost any reach of the Government. And given Uncle Bill and his Green buddies are intent on making Australia one of the least competitive places to do business we'd better just keep praying our coffee, smashed avocado and property speculation based economy still has some legs.

    Goodbye 2017.
