    OK- some basic Leuchte-theory!

    • Each adaptation channel on a mk7 normally is made-up of 4 x components in it's name as follows (as reported by VCDS) : Parent Tag - Child Tag - Parent Name - Child Name. Notice that the components are separated by "-". Example: ENG116948-ENG116110-Leuchte12NL LB45-Dimming Direction CD 12
    • Each of the 32 x exterior lights on a bog-standard mk7 is controlled by a "Leuchte-set" .
    • Each Leuchte-set is made-up of 19 x Adaptation channels
    • Each adaptation channel name in a Leuchte-set has the same Parent Tag and the same Parent Name

Here is a complete list of the 19 x adaptation channels for the Leuchte12NL LB45 Leuchte-set which controls the left-side front fog-light:
    ENG116948-ENG116110-Leuchte12NL LB45-Dimming Direction CD 12
    ENG116948-ENG116114-Leuchte12NL LB45-Dimming Direction EF 12
    ENG116948-ENG116118-Leuchte12NL LB45-Dimming Direction GH 12
    ENG116948-ENG116105-Leuchte12NL LB45-Dimmwert AB 12
    ENG116948-ENG116109-Leuchte12NL LB45-Dimmwert CD 12
    ENG116948-ENG116113-Leuchte12NL LB45-Dimmwert EF 12
    ENG116948-ENG116117-Leuchte12NL LB45-Dimmwert GH 12
    ENG116948-ENG116102-Leuchte12NL LB45-Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC 12
    ENG116948-ENG116562-Leuchte12NL LB45-Lampendefektbitposition 12
    ENG116948-ENG116100-Leuchte12NL LB45-Lasttyp 12
    ENG116948-ENG116106-Leuchte12NL LB45-Lichtansteuerung HD AB 12
    ENG116948-ENG116103-Leuchte12NL LB45-Lichtfunktion A 12
    ENG116948-ENG116104-Leuchte12NL LB45-Lichtfunktion B 12
    ENG116948-ENG116107-Leuchte12NL LB45-Lichtfunktion C 12
    ENG116948-ENG116108-Leuchte12NL LB45-Lichtfunktion D 12
    ENG116948-ENG116111-Leuchte12NL LB45-Lichtfunktion E 12
    ENG116948-ENG116112-Leuchte12NL LB45-Lichtfunktion F 12
    ENG116948-ENG116115-Leuchte12NL LB45-Lichtfunktion G 12
    ENG116948-ENG116116-Leuchte12NL LB45-Lichtfunktion H 12

If your car is programmed to turn-on the fogs with high-beam as per my instructions, the left/right high beam leuchte-command to do this can be included in any of the Lichtfunkion channels. Look through the complete list on your car for this setting (then do the same for the right-side fog-light Leuchte-set which is Leuchte13NL RB5)

PS: Alas, there is no way to bulk reset the channel settings to their factory values

There is a channel that I have been curious about but haven't gotten around to testing as I don't have an mqb car myself:
    IDE05145-Light configuration

This has a long string value and my feeling is that this is some sort of master config file for the lighting, sort like the hidden byte 18 was in PQ platform bcms.

I don't recommend anyone mess with this in their car, but if you are already comfortable with BCM adaptation (or DV52 if you have some time with your test bench) perhaps someone could indulge this theory. . .

Take an adaptation channel map of your BCM.
Modify 1 or more lighting related channels.
See if the contents of this lighting configuration channel change at all
If it does, restore it to the original value and see if it also restores the value of the other channels you changed.

Also SVM can restore all coding and adaptation to factory settings, but requires the factory software ODIS or a visit to the dealer

kamold: I've had a love/hate relationship with light configuration channels since I first hooked-up my original VCDS cable to my my13 Golf - which was the first MQB build Golf. In the BCM for that vehicle, there were as many light configuration channels as there were Leutche channels: there were 35 x Leuchte-sets, so there were 665 of each type of channel. Further, each Leuchte channel appeared to have a twin light configuration channel. Moreover, the Leutche channel description had (and still has) a number (0-34) that links with its twin Lighting configuration channel.

As I said in my lighting explanation document :
Of the 35 x channel-sets in the BCM of my 103TSI, 10 x channels-sets are not active. Of the 25 channel-sets that are active, 6 x channels-sets appear to have a close correlation between the Leuchte channels and the Light configuration channels. The remaining 19 x "active" channel-sets do not appear to have this correlation.

The close correlation channels are: Low Beam Headlamp, Front Turn Indicator and Daytime Running Lamp (left and Right lamps in each case). The only linking aspect for these lights is that they are all part of the front headlight assembly albeit the High beam lamp is missing from the list. Whenever a stored valued of a Leutche channel is changed for these lamps, the corresponding stored value of the Lighting configuration channel automatically changes to the altered value.
At the time of writing, the purpose of the Lighting configuration channels is not known. However, my initial suspicion is that each Lighting Configuration channel-set records the set-up parameters for the power supply circuits of the exterior light that is defined in its twin Leuchte channel-set.

So, what seemed to occur on MY16 MQB cars is that the boffins @ VW re-wrote the ever increasing database in the BCM and eventually the complete transfer of the long-coding switches to adaptation channels (thus increasing the channel count even further). What also happened around this time is that the 665 x Light Configuration were coalesced into one channel with a 38 x hex code (often it's a zero string)

    Don

PS: thanks for the SMV clarification - perfectly correct!

I found the resolution in another thread you had posted!
VWVortex.com - Fog Lights on with High Beams?
I changed it from "in betrieb lassen" to "limitieren" --Thank you.

I believe that the fix for the foglight- off issue (when the low beams are switched-on) lies in an adaptation channel in the Body Control Module. The fix for this problem was first found by my colleague LIJetta_18 but I can't find his post on the VACOM thread (sorry Tom) - it's a very large thread

Anyhow: here's what I believe needs to happen - for those that have a VCDS cable:

    1. Acceess 09- Cent Elect control module
    2. Go to the following adaptation channel: ( 6)-Driving light and parking light-Zahl der aktiven Scheinwerfer auf 2 limitieren (English translation: 6) -Driving Light and parking Light -number of active head Lights ON 2 limit) Note: If you have the latest Beta version software just type one of the words in the adaptation channel descriptor into the "search" box
    3. Change the setting to not-active

I don't think that a security code is needed for this change but you will get the familiar error message if I'm wrong
    Cheers
    Don

After i am done. The unit is able to playback SD card, link to blue tooth and so on.

What happened is that I lost the Driving school mode and also lost the options to set my lights and some settings under opening and closing.
Under the Lights settings, i only have the instrument cluster brightness settings.
I can no longer set how long my coming home and leaving home time.
I can no longer set if I want my DRL to stay on or off.

I too lost some extra settings under opening and closing.
I can no longer set the closing during rain options.

Any idea on why is that so and some pointers would be helpful.

pinut: I assume that when you say "i just recently did a swap of my radio" - you mean that you changed both the MIB head unit (the thing in your pictures) and the control module that lives inside the glove-box (which VW calls J794). If my assumption is correct, then it ought be no surprise that you lost your previous tweaks - because you have replaced the data-base for the old "radio".

Just re-implement the tweaks in your new "radio"

Hey All, I picked up some new LED headlights from Supernova to replace my halogens, Ive just noticed when the low beams are on. the 2 DLR U's dim. which is fine. Though on the passenger side, one DLR dims the other goes out, I asked someone else that I knew that had them he said his would flicker abit as the voltage they receive is low when dimmed and to up the brightness a little so they dont flicker or completly turn off. He doesnt have access to his tablet to see what changes he made, any ideas?

What im aiming for is. When DRL are on in the day, they are nice and bright (currently doing this) When indicating in the day, DRL turns off for that side (currently doing this) When low beams on, DRLs on Dim (currently doing this but not bright enough to trigger one of the LED U's to turn on) When low beams on and im indicating, DRL turns off (Not currently doing this)
