Hi all,
does anyone know which features available on comfortline or highline golf models that can be enabled using VCDS or OBD11 tweaks on the base model 2017 mark VII and which can't due to hardware limitations?
Are there sensors installed that just require software tweaks to enable, thinking along the lines of (and some of these will shock me if they are installed) rain sensing, remember air re-circulation setting, auto headlight sensors, voice commands, dipping the mirror when reversing, coming home lighting, speed limit recognition....
If there are any other common software tweaks that can be performed on the base model also would welcome those suggestions too.

Hey all,
Can this button on the steering wheel be re-coded/re-assigned to something more useful? As Voice control is a waste of space and time.
I found a code to make it mute (DV52 top bloke!!!), but was hoping for something more useful. Esc/tc/start stop on off, etc
I had a look in steering and informat coding (obdeleven) but nothing jumped out at me.

But, it also depends on the version number of the software/hardware in these control modules because significant changes appear to have occurred in 2016/2017 period of mk7 models. These changes were profound and they started by re configuring the structure of the database for adaptation channels in the BCM (which has over 50% of the total channel count for the entire vehicle). The BCM (Body Control Module) is the central module on the Convenience CAN bus and it's identified by VCDS as "Cent. Elect." and by OBD11 as "Central electric" - and it lives @ address hex09.
In later incarnations of the BCM, it appears that a further, very significant change was made to 2017 models: the complete absence of any code-string on the module and the transfer of these functions to adaptation channels (which of course had the consequential result of increasing the BCM channel count even more - these later BCMs now have a channel count of 1,800-ish).
So, what does all this mean - I hear you asking? Well....... it means that the only way to get an accurate answer to your question is to post up a copy of the auto-scan for your 92TSI - so we can see what equipment is installed.
And - before you make any changes, it might be prudent to make a complete database of the settings in your car - in their "virgin" state. If you aren't aware of how to do this - perhaps download THIS (it's a bit old now, but hopefully it's still relevant)

Cheers Don, should get the car this week but need to order another ODB11 (on I bought for my tiguan got pinched) so will probably be a few weeks away from putting it up....

Minesapint: Someone thieved your OBD11 dongle? Outrageous! How is the robber going to use it without the activation code? Have you advised ODB11 Admin - so they can track anyone trying to re-register the dongle?
Anyhow, given that you aren't using VCDS, my paper about making a database is not relevant.
Instead you need to use OBD11's "back-up" function for each module - see below:

I just developed the tweak instructions below at the request of a colleague on GOLFMK7 forum (thanks Murf). Thought it might be of interest to VWWatercooled folk - so here it is:
The tweak emulates the DRL dynamic on a BMW 335i (apparently) which as Murf explains "when the car was locked or unlocked the angel eye DRL's would light up for 20 secs or so". Murf's request was made in the OBD11 thread, so my instructions are based on this diagnostic cable. Nevertheless, the instructions are easily translated into VCDS speak.
OBD11 Instructions: Front DRLs flash with lock/unlock
If the car has LED "angel-eyes" headlight fittings:
1. Select Central electrics module @ address hex09
2. Select security access
3. Enter the magic number 31347
4. Select adaptations
5. For a late-model module search for Außenlicht_Blinker. If you have an early-model module, search for Dyn. turn signal modes
6. Select ZV_Blinken_auf change to active
7. Select ZV_Blinken_zu change to active
8. Search for Leuchte2SL VLB10 (this is the left-side angel-eye)
9. Select Lichtfunktion G 2. ONLY IF THE VALUE IS not active, change to Aktive Blinkfunktion hat ein auf 1 gesetztes zugeordnetes Bit in pa_dynamisch_blinken
10. Select Dimmwert GH 2, change value to 100 (default 0)
11. Search for Leuchte3SL VRB21 (this is the right-side angel-eye)
12. Select Lichtfunktion G 3. ONLY IF THE VALUE IS not active, change to Aktive Blinkfunktion hat ein auf 1 gesetztes zugeordnetes Bit in pa_dynamisch_blinken
13. Select Dimmwert GH 3, change value to 100 (default 0)
If the car has incandescent headlight fittings:
1. Swap reference to Leuchte2SL VLB10 to Leuchte4TFL LB4 (note: Lichtfunktion G 2 becomes Lichtfunktion G 4 and Dimmwert GH 2 becomes Dimmwert GH 4)
2. Swap reference to Leuchte3SL VRB21 to Leuchte5 TFL RB32 (note: Lichtfunktion G 3 becomes Lichtfunktion G 5 and Dimmwert GH 3, becomes Dimmwert GH 5)

EDIT: In the first version of this tweak, it was necessary to deactivate DRL Wink (because it conflicted with the lock/unlock acknowledgement function). The instructions have subsequently been re-written to allow retention of DRL Wink in those cars that have it activated.

Don - I have a question in regards of implementing Aktive Blinkfunktion hat ein auf 1 gesetztes zugeordnetes Bit in pa_dynamisch_blinken to indicator as DRL (US Parking light - 7R LED indicator in my case) to fix the hazard light not working due to adaptation cancelling each other.

Anonymous: Very good question! I had to think about the answer - which I believe is as follows:
Strictly speaking "priority" is not an issue for this tweak because the lock/unlock acknowledgement should happen when the car ignition is not activated. If you look at the table in your post, the functions in the US Parking Light tweak are: DRL lights and Turn-signal lights. Both these functions should be deactivated when the ignition is turned-off -so there ought not be a conflict between the participation of the blinkers in the lock/unlock acknowledgement activity and any other lighting request.
But this shouldn't matter because- when I developed the tweak above on my test bench (my "virtual mk7" which consists of a few key modules running from a 12V supply and a simulated lighting assembly), I needed to make no changes to the Leuchte-sets for the front two turn signals.
My assumption is that when Warnblinken_Zuendung_EIN/AUS commands are activated, they automatically invoke the participation of the two front turn signals into the lock/unlock acknowledgement dance. However, if additional lights are asked to join in this dance, then the corresponding Leuchte-sets for those lamps need to include the Aktive Blinkfunktion hat ein auf 1 gesetztes zugeordnetes Bit in pa_dynamisch_blinken command. As I said - this is a guess based on the fact that I needed to make no additional changes
So - my suggestion (for what it's worth) is to activate the Warnblinken_Zuendung_EIN/AUS commands as the first step - as per my instructions. Then lock/unlock the car and check that the front blinkers flash (check the rear blinkers too - out of interest). If my hypothesis is correct - add the Leuchte changes in my instructions as a separate step.
If my hypothesis is not correct - then my apology for the wrong advice. In this case, please report your observations here and I will work-out a set of remedial instructions.

PS: Given your prompting regarding priority, I've changed the original instructions in my tweak to give the lock/unlock function the highest status in the Leuchte-sets for the DRLs. As a consequence, it's now possible with the revised tweak instructions to retain both DRL wink AND the DRL Lock/Unlock acknowledgement activity - thanks for the idea!
