Fabbromix: Hmm................ there's your problem (I suspect)!

earlier his year, I spent a considerable time helping a colleague on the Vortex forum who had tried to implement this tweak on a Discover Media unit which is better optioned that your Composition Media (albeit his was MIB1, not MIB11).

My Vortex colleague (who I won't name) also tried to implement this tweak, but as he was using OBD11 dongle, he used the long coding feature to select Skin 2 in the Byte17_Skinning entry for Information Control Unit 1 - which is the translation for this tweak in OBD11 speak. And his problems started with this mistake!

The code-string change was accepted by the 5F module, but after he reset the MIB unit (by holding down the ON/OFF knob), he was unable to access any of the operational screens in the MIB unit. What happened was that he could hear the radio through the speakers, but the MIB screen wouldn't go past the opening screen (the VW emblem that appears at start-up).

Not only that, but he was unable to access the control module again to revert the setting to their original value (he was using an OBD11 dongle)

Anyhow after a few attempts we were finally able to solve the problem (mainly by clearing the App cache on his tablet and resetting the module via OBD11), but it was a salutary lesson that CAUTION should always be exercised when applying tweak instructions to equipement that wan't intended by the author. I'm not blaming XaGiCo, but whilst his instructions are well done, pictures and the Spanish language can only go so far in explaining the limitations of the tweaks - I certainly mean no offense to XaGiCo's excellent work!

So - what I think will happen if you force this code into the 5F module is that you will attempt to apply a skin for which there is no software in the module's firmware. After you reset the MIB, the software will go though the normal start-up routine and it will try to load the non-existent skin - result, the screen won't go post the VW emblem albeit the non-display functions on the MIB will probably still work (as observed by my Vortex colleague)!!

My advice (for what it's worth) is to not pursue this tweak with your current MIB unit!!

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.

Ok Don!! Thank You!!! Vero Amico Ciaoooo

I would buy a OBDeleven which normal version or PRO tips me, I have not the faintest idea of differences between the two and how to use it.

If you Want to modify anything (i.e. Apply one or more tweaks) you need to buy the Pro version, as The standard version does not allow to make any modification.
In italian : se vuoi usarlo per fare modifiche devi comprare per forza la versione Pro: la versione standard non consente di fare modifiche, solo leggere valori e usare le apps
    ciao!

Halfmillion: Hi - Whilst I don't disagree with your recommendation, Here's the official information regarding the difference between the two dongle versions

    OBDeleven

    • Automatic vehicle identification from VIN (Vehicle identification number)
    • Read and clear diagnostic trouble codes from all control units that is installed in your car (i.e. Engine, Transmission, ABS, Airbag, Multimedia, Air conditioning, etc.)
    • Diagnostic trouble codes in 7 languages: English, German, Russian, Polish, French, Spanish, Italian
    • Read information about control unit (i.e. Part number, Software number, Coding, etc.)
    • Diagnostic data log sharing via email
    • Battery status
    • Connected cars history
    • Gauges
    • Engine, Equipment and Fault code lookups
    • DIY manuals

    OBDeleven Pro
    • All of the above
    • Home screen PRO theme (more info in main screen: engine code, battery voltage, faulty control units list)
    • Programming (coding, long coding, adaptation)
    • Basic settings
    • Output tests
    • Live data
    • Car programming history
    • One touch Apps for quick module programming

So it really depends on the intended use - but the real decision variable between the two versions is the cost differential for those in the EU (I assume that there is still an EU and that Italy is still a member of the organisation )
    OBDeleven = 35.99 Euro
    OBDeleven Pro = 54.99 Euro

Hi Don! Thanks for all valuable feedback, information, tweaks, DYI and knowledge you are constantly providing!

I fully confirm detailed differences as reported by you (I do own an OBD11), and also pricing (it takes 2-4 weeks for delivery). In a nutshell, I just wanted to let fabbromix know that PRO version is needed for any tweak (including VIM i.e. Video in motion, Which was the main reason for me to buy obd11 for my Skoda Octavia Scout 4x4 184cv dsg with Columbus!)

Well i tried changing the 3 adaptations and nothing changed, or so i think...
uploaded a video with the behaviour, i dont know if kessy can affect in any way. other thing annoying me is the license plate lamp, also stays lighted when turn off the engine !!

Can be this related with the "single side parking lights" or similar?
another adaptation finded now im my couch that can fit my problem is some related "after-run"wow sounds great..
    After-run for park light:
    Bedingungen zur Beendigung des Standlichtnachlaufs:
    abschalten nach der Nachlaufzeit
    Standlicht-Nachlaufzeit:
    30.0 min

other backups found shows "inactive" while mine "active"

Ah, the backup done with obd11 if you want to take a look.

But thank you for your kindness in not pointing-out that I'd forgotten one of the fundamental laws of Leuchte programming: ALWAYS, always consider the matter of priority from the inevitable conflicts whenever Leuchte-sets have more than one lighting function!!

Anyhow, I've re-designed the tweak the way that it should have been when I first responded to your request! As I said above, the trick is to give the parking light function the highest priority so that it takes precedence whenever the turn signal operates coincident with the parking light.

Again my apology - it's back to remedial Leuchte programming school for me!!

    Don

PS: I intend to re-write my initial response (the correct way) so as not to confuse others who might read the post in the future - hope this doesn't cause you any problems

    Hi Don,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I have implemented the changes as detailed and can happily confirm that everything is working as expected/wanted.

Please don't worry about any issues caused, I really appreciate the help and learning from all the information that you provide!

    Thanks again
