Kiaorana: Hello again. I could be wrong (I often am), but I believe that it's more than just a cable/harness that's required to make the turn-signal LEDs sequence in the manner shown in the video.

As I'm sure that you already know, there is only one pin that is brought-out on the connector for each of inner/outer turn signal clusters. Now it has been a very, very, very long time since I sat in classroom to be taught electronic design, but it ain't physically, or electrically possible to implement the LED chase effect if you only have access to one pin for the entire cluster segments!

I believe that Deutsche Auto Parts sell a harness that flashes the entire inner cluster a few seconds after the outer cluster, but it's not a true LED chase as per the video. They also want your first born child as the price for their harness (I recall)

The only way to implement LED chaser is to either design the effect into a third party fitting from scratch, or to break-open the VW fittings and access each LED individually. I suspect that the former option applied to the tails in the video!! I would be interested to know at what price these units are sold - I suspect that the seller charges a price close to the annual budget of a small African nation!!

fonsii: OK, that's much clearer - thanks for the claification. I don't have LED tail-lights on my mk7, so I'm not accross the detail for the one LED segment at the intersection of the two clusters. What I do know however is that it's not possible to access this segment on its own from outside the housing. This is of my 2016 Golf R, with headlights on, no brake applied.

yeah, the LEDs there definitely work when brakes are applied, so the LEDs are not faulty.i guess i dont' mind it as much but once my friend pointed it out to me i can't unthink it -.- thanks anyway! i've already tried dealing with VW in regards to a few little things and i ended up wanting to stomp on their head on a kerb. so i might just not deal with VW right now about the leds...

Hi Don,

That's what I tho get too, hence why my first reply was that it was only possible with an aftermarket Tail Lights, it wouldn't work with OEM.

But then I saw that harness which claims to do just that woth OEM tail lights.

There's a video at the bottom, is that the same as what DAP is selling?
