Is my system stuffed and time to tell dealer to replace it?
Any thoughts?
Thanks all.
Harry: Hi and sorry to hear about your problems. I got a PM from a colleague on this forum that had a MIBII and who had problems with the TMC tweak.
His description was that the default value on the adaptation channel wasn't 0 as in my instructions and that when he finished changing the channel (to 1024), a number of weird screens started to appear on the infotainment unit. I've also read a couple of posts on the RT forum from folks having problems with MIBII and the latest RT software.
Not sure what the issue is, but the author of the PM said that everything went back to normal after he physically removed the cable from the OBDII connector. He said in his latest PM that he now has TMC working perfectly. Incidentally, I assume that you weren't using the laptop with a 240Volt AC supply connected to the laptop when you did the tweak. Depending on the quality of the AC power supply, this can cause earth-loop issues - resulting in noise and intermittent communications with the ODBII port.
If your problem persists, may I suggest that you do an auto-scan on the car and see if any error messages appear. Also, I think that it might be prudent to have a quick peek at the CodingLog.txt file on your laptop to confirm that the correct change was made (I'm not suggesting that you made an error- but I think that it's good to just discount this as a possibility). The entry in the Codinglog.txt file will tell you what the default value was for the TMC adaption channel. You might want to roll-back the setting.
Please let us know what happens- we might be able to provide further assistance once you post-up the auto-scan results and provide feedback on the codinglog.txt file information.
Good luck
Don

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.
