Service/ km reset question with VCDS on Mk 7?

A friend took his mk 7 (it's a highline petrol but not sure on exact engine type) in for a service at a non vw centre and the mechanic had no idea how to reset the service. My friend mentioned it in passing (being 3 months Later)and said it was starting to bug him. I plug in my VCDS and when I hit SRI reset it told me to go to module 17 and then adaption and select ERI reset (or something close) when I selected the option and then changed the value to reset and hit "do it" nothing took effect. There are more options under the menu like max limit and min. Anyone else used this way to reset service on Mk 7 or other vag vehicle. Have search here and other forums and found nothing.

    lunchbox:
You could use a VCDS cable to reset the SRI if you want. Mr RossTech's instructions can be found here . Don't worry that the instructions say that it's for an Audi A6 - It's the same for the mk7 (they both use an MQB platform)

    But an easier way to do it is manually - like this;
    1. Get into the car an put the key in the ignition (but don't turn the key)
    2. Shut all the doors
    3. Press-in and hold the 0.0 button on the centre of the cluster (under the MFD)
    4. While holding in the 0.0 button turn the ignition on (but don't crank the engine)
    5. When the ignition turns on, release the 0.0 button (you should get a message on the MFD asking if you want to reset the SRI)
    6. press the 0.0. button again to confirm that you want to reset the SRI

    That's it!

Thanks, I knew about the 0.0 method but was trying to set it to the right km for him. That link explains how to so again thanks.

I tried the above method on a Golf 7 a little while back, and nothing happened.

Nothing I tried off the net worked. Autel Maxi-Scan MD802 clears them though, in about 30 seconds tops.

Umai: Yeah, I've heard from a couple of forum members that the manual process hasn't worked on their cars. Strange, because it works just fine on my car (if all you want to do is reset the SRI - rather than change the Km, or time settings like lunchbox)

    Lunchbox:

If you want to get "more creative" and you want to fiddle with stuff like max/min settings (as you mentioned in your first post), then here are the other settings for the SRI

The RT instructions place a "0" in the setting in adaptation channels with ID #5 and ID# 9 (the values in my pic are my current values). I've not played with the Max/Min values, but I suspect that the "FIX" channels are the ones to change and the ESI channels reflect the values in the FIX channels. Let me know if I'm correct-please
To access these channels just use the pull down menu in 10-adaptation for control module 17-Instruments.

    Enjoy!

ESI stands for extended service intervals, known as the "LongLife" service regime and features variable service intervals.

FIX refers to fixed service intervals, known as the "Time and Distance" service regime.

Vehicles for the Australian market are intended by Volkswagen to be configured for the latter.

It worked for me, but only after three goes. I think the timing of the steps is important.
