Hi, may I know where you get the codes from? I'm from Singapore and was trying to get TMC here. I activated the RDS, AF, TP and did a channel scan but it seems that it can only detect our neighboring country Malaysia TP. Whereas there's no station with 'TP' in our local channel. Though I know there actually a station which broadcast TP and the frequency. Any idea?

Mythos: It's not a secret. I get the magic numbers for enabling TMC from the stored settings in the adaptation control module maps (admap) that folk from various countries kindly share with me.

I've not had anyone send me an admap for a Golf from Singapore, so I can't suggest what the magic number might be up there. But I'm more than happy to extract the number from a file if you send it to me.

So, what you will need to do is to find someone with an MQB model vehicle (it doesn't need to be a mk7 Golf, although it's preferable) in Singapore that has TMC enabled on their car. If you find a mk7 Golf, then you need to make an admap.csv file for address 5F from the car. If it's another MQB type model, you will need to look through the auto-scan report for the car and take an educated guess where the TMC channel might be hiding (try address 5F if in doubt).

If you want to extract the data yourself, I suggest that you parse the file into an a user friendly application like MS Excel. Once this is done, look down the list of adaptation channels descriptions until you find one that says " Fee-based traffic Information (TMC)" , or something similar. The stored setting next to this channel descriptor is the magic number. It really is as easy as that!

Or, you can send me the file and I will extract the magic number for you

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.

Hi DV52, thanks for the reply. So far I doubt anyone in Singapore has enabled the TMC on the Golf. Probably only a couple of them enabled on the Audi by paying some company to do it. Had posted on the local forum but haven't got any reply yet. For Singapore MBQ Golf with Discover Pro, for long coding of 5F, byte 13, we need to check bits 0-3 to allow the hidden menu to appear. So far I tried a few of the number without getting rejection from the unit such as 1040, 1204, probably these codes are for other countries. Can you provide me with your Discover part number so I can check the feature difference.

Lastly, anyone tried enabling VIM for the MBQ using Vagcom?

Mythos: OK. I guess that you need to get hold of one of those Audi's and look at the Admap! OR you could take a VW mechanic out for a beer (or, two) and have a friendly chat!

Just to confirm, you stated that "long coding of 5F, byte 13, we need to check bits 0-3".
Are you saying that in Singapore, the hidden menu for TMC is enabled by changing address 5F, byte 13 to 0F (i.e. 0000 1111)? A colleague in Russia used Hex 09 in Byte 13 for this purpose.

I have no particular insights for the logic for generating magic numbers to unlock TMC, but just as a suggestion, you might try thinking about these in other numbering bases. For example the magic number for Australia "1024" is equivalent to 400 in hexadecimal.

Yes most of Singapore MBQ is using Discover Pro which need to check bits 0-3. If using the Russian suggestion you get only RDS but not TP. I tried all means to unlock the code dec to hex, hex to dec, TMC location codes but just can't figure out the link.

You mind giving me the part number for ur HU? I wanna check if yours is DAB version.

Mytjos: DAB radio? Whilst Australia has DAB+, VW Aust. has given us old fashion FM/AM radios in our mk7 Golfs. My HU is the ZCA type.
