Par2: Your dealer is either incompetent, or he is acting fraudulently, or he just doesn't want to help! Either way you should not accept such nonsense because in doing so, you give the dealer (and the inapprpriately named "Customer Care" people at VW Aust.) license to do the same thing to other customers.
Ask him again and when he gives you the same answer, show him the picture below (taken by alanzadine). Unless he can convince you that this picture was not taken inside a Golf mk7, or that the road between "La Trobe street and Wurundjeri Way" is somewhere outside Australia (it's in Melbourne CBD), I think you will be able to prove him wrong!!!
Then ask him why he refuses to get his service department to change the stored setting in a single adaptation channel (a task that should take no more than 5 seconds). If he says that he doesn't know how to enable the facility, give him a copy of my tweak instructions.
I suspect that after you do all the things that I have mentioned above, your dealer will then try the "Nuremberg defence". That is, he will say something like "I can't help, I'm just doing what I'm told to do by VW Australia". At this point, you have to make a decision!!

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.
My MY15 GTI is fresh off the boat (Oct '14 build) and TMC is disabled.
After asking my dealer he spun me two lines of bovine excrement:
1. The feature is disabled because it would not work in Australia.
2. Pretended to never have heard of VW owners tweaking their own cars with VCDS.

Idle; hi. I agree, the other thing that I like about TMC is the announcement warning by the SATNAV as you approach the road works.
PS: TMC does allow graphics. The reports that appear when you press the "TRAFFIC" button are replicated (usually) as a triangle and "!" Symbol on the SATNAV map. Also if you select the textual report (by touching it), you will get a more fulsome explanation of the event including a picture of where it is. This also happens if you touch the triangle symbol on the SATNAV map. Try it!

Traffic did work in my MY14 GTI but no workie in my MY15 Highline. Sucks.....could at least replace the redundant Traffic button with something useful such as mute (Nav Pro - voice control is active)

I just got a new Mk7 Golf R on Friday. I have noticed something peculiar on the Car menu/settings sub menu. I don't have either the "Mirrors & Wiper" or "Opening & Closing" Selections in the infotainment menu:
They are in Factory Settings though:
I have looked at all the coding & adaptation settings in the Central Electronics & Information Electr. modules, can't seem to find it. Looking for some pointers. These were NOT there when I got the vehicle. If someone has some files with these displayed or knows the specific setting, that would be much appreciated.
I would have expected a selection so I can call up a screen such as this:
I have successfully coded:
fan speed indicator in climate control knob
a/c recirculation
comfort blinking cycles
wiper tear drop
drl menu in infotainment unit
sunroof comfort open instead of tilt
windows up/down with door open
CH/LH light auto activation & time duration alteration
inner tail lights as brake lights
start/stop off
traffic info on
driving school mode on
sound actuator off
Logs all fine.

Fontana: First- congratulations! The Golf R is a really fantastic car (I've only driven one for a very short time, but it goes like a cut cat!)!
OK. Let's deal with the missing items in the set-up menu. None of the tweaks that you have listed would normally affect these items. Your picture (above) shows only the first part of the set-up menu. Normally, "Mirrors & Wipers" is the setting after "Light" (shown on your pic) and it is followed by "Opening & Closing". But both these items are on the second page of set-up
When you slide your finger down the RHS of the screen (pull-down the vertical line shown on your pic on the top RHS), what are the screen settings after "Light"? If the missing items aren't on the second page, take a pic of the next page of the setup screen (i.e. after "Light") and paste it here, so we can see it -please
