Cheers mate, I'll give it a go.

Reedy: The same thing happens (sometimes) with VCDS. I found that it's necessary to complete an "in-car" procedure to successfully implement this tweak. Here's a extract from my instructions on the VCDS reference thread - I suggest that you try it

Blinks fixed but still no auto close with rain. Never mind. Might try and code it again. Thanks for all your help mate.

It's no good, tried every combination possible from the instructions and different orders but still no auto rain close. Funny but leaving my windows open over night they are closed in the morning so that feature is working.
Any other options or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder, does the Auto rain close feature would impact the batery much? And does it work if only one window is open? I usually crack open only one of the rears just a little bit if I have to park it outside in the sun for an extended period of time.
Just found this picture from another thread that shows a completely different byte for changing the auto rain close. Is this from a different or older vehicle or is the reason I can't get mine to work because I've not checked the boxes? I've done byte 00 bit 1 and 2 just like the instructions.

^^^ Reedy : I do admire your persistence in trying to get the auto Rainclose tweak to work!
Unfortunately, the master control module in your screen shot (the BCM 5K0-937-086) was installed in non - MQB platform vehicles. The mk7 was the first Golf to use this platform and a number of fundamental changes were made to the control modules in this car to cater for new innovations and basic changes in the network structure of the various CAN buses.
This is a long way of saying that mk7s don't have the screen shot in your post - alas, so you can't access that particular long-coding-helper screen on your car

I thought so but worth a shot. Yes this tweak was Top of my list as I like to leave my windows down in summer. I did this in my mk6 GTI and when I came back to my car everything was soaked as we had sideways rain. Not to worry I'll leave it or perhaps let VW know and see if they have an idea?
Thanks for your help. No doubt I will need more from you .

Is there a way to have coming/leaving home lights activated with the main xenon bulbs staying off, and just the DRL's on?
I was reading the other day that on/off cycles can shorten the xenon bulbs lifetime so with the lights currently set up as they are, they're going through twice the cycles during every trip (lights come on at unlock, and unless I turn ignition on within 30sec which I can't always do eg. load the car first etc, they will go off and on again when I start).
ringo: hi. The short answer is YES, but if you specifically want ONLY the DRL to be activated as the CH/LH lights, then you will need to make changes to a few "Leuchte" channels in the BCM.
However, if your objective is to NOT USE the low beam lamps for this function, then a simpler alternative (from a tweak perspective) is to have the fog-lights operate when CH/LH is activated (I think).
If this alternative is acceptable, then this is the fix:
- Select the BCM
- Select security access and enter the magic number 31347
- Select adaptation and type "ENG115656" into the search-box
- Select the adaptation channel IDE04926-ENG115656-Comfort illumination-Coming Home Leuchten from the drop-down box
- Change setting from Low beam to Fog light
- Press Doit!
- Exit software
