It seems to be the cars with the new RLHS (I think it stands for Rain, Light, Humidity Sensor?) that are struggling with this function.

eden: Hello and welcome to the forum. I don't know whether any of what I said above applies to a Passat B8 - that said, the car is also an MQB platform model, so I would expect that it shares many of the features of other MQB cars. Why not have a look at my tweak instructions and see if the same adaptation channels and Bits are on your Passat?

As for your folding mirror question, you can download a copy of the USP Motorsports instructions in the link below. Towards the end of the document, you will find the coding changes - hope that it helps

Oh yes, but that's not caused by the coding... it's because I sat in the car for >10 minutes, then these buttons disappear for some reason. When restarting the car, they will reappear.

PS: Is it really that cold in the Netherlands!!
Oh dear... I need to use VCDS more often... I did this change in VCP, which didn't have this info whoops!
I'll test the other ones. I've also checked out 40, 50, 60, but without any results.
And yes.. it's winter on this side of the world. I hope spring comes soon!

Is there anywhere in VCDS I can modify the sound system settings? I have been reading on the topic for a MK6 and there you have description and help in the long coding but not for MK7... Has anyone experienced this and any suggests for a fix?

    Thanks all
Just an update to this: I found out that it happens when Discover Pro is shutting down. This happens when I don't turn on the ignition after I go inside. As the Discover Pro is starting when I open the door, although the screen remain dark, it stays on for a while. So now my question is slightly different: Anyone else noticing some strange sound output in the speakers when the device is shutting down?

VCDS Tweak: Tail-light illumination when hatch open - Safety feature

I was recently acquainted with this tweak by a newbie forum member (thanks harisg). The tweak will illuminate the outer tail-lights (left & right) whenever the hatch is opened. This illumination happens regardless of the position of the rotary light switch, or the time-of-day (i.e. irrespective of whether the car has a RLS/RLHS/RLHS installed, or not). To the extent that the additional illumination provides a "visual" warning for approaching vehicles that a person is at the rear of the car, the tweak is considered a safety feature worthy of implementation.

The tweak is straight-forward and easy to implement, but I have purposefully complicated these instructions to cater of our growing number of USA forum colleagues. As you may be aware, NAR (North American Region) cars have a slightly different lighting arrangement and the factory Leuchte settings for their outer tail-lights are more-functionally rich than our RoW (Rest-of-world)models - due in large part to the fact that the outer tail-lights must also perform the standard blinker activity

A final point - once implemented this tweak will override the normal rear brake-light function. So if you drive with the tailgate opened, the tweak may not be appropriate!

Tail-light illumination when hatch open - Safety feature

    1. Select 09 - Central Electr control module
    2. Select Security Access - 16 from the "Open Controller" screen
    3. Enter the magic number 31347 and return to the "Open Controller" screen
    4. Select Adaptation - 10 from the "Open Controller" screen
    5. From the pull-down button check that the default settings for the adaptation channels shown in the table below for either your RoW or NAR vehicle are as indicated in the RoW/NAR Setting column
    6. For the car type (i.e. RoW, or NAR), change the adaptation channels depicted in the table below to the values in the New Setting column (use the "Search" box to locate the correct channels)

    Notes:
    1. I've shown the complete Leuchte-set for both outer tail-lights for completeness, For confirmation though:
    • If the car is RoW:
    (5)-Leuchte21BR RC8-Lichtfunktion B 21 and
    (5)-Leuchte20BR LA71-Lichtfunktion B 20
    need to be changed
    • If the car is NAR,
    (16)-Leuchte21BR RC8-Lichtfunktion G 21, and
    (18 )-Leuchte21BR RC8-Dimmwert GH 21, and
    (16)-Leuchte20BR LA71-Lichtfunktion G 20, and
    (18 )-Leuchte20BR LA71-Dimmwert GH 20
    need to be changed
    2. If the default factory settings in the car are not as shown in the table- do not proceed with the tweak

Been digging around again on the idea DCC voltage could be modified for the different driving modes. Still have not found where the mode selections can be modified although you as Don suspected i can see the damper voltage. It does change if i bounce up and down in the car as the DCC system should. More tinkering to come as i get free time.

Also, when activating the offroad screen i see the 'sport' info that could be modified. Anyone tinkered with these???

Monkeysrus: Without wishing to be pedantic, I think for your exercise, you should make a distinction between "Voltage" and "current". The two are of course related by Mr Ohm's law, but in the DCC application, I think that latter is the correct characteristic.

My understanding of the operation of the shocker in a DCC system is that it operates an electro-mechanical "plunger" which is inserted in the outlet valve for the oil chamber. The oil flow exiting the shocker's central chamber when it is compressed must work against the force of the electro mechanical plunger which acts like a pre-tensioning device.

The force of the plunger in restricting the flow of oil in the shocker chamber can be adjusted by varying the electrical current (not voltage) to the coil (i.e. the moving core of the plunder sets the pre-tensioning force in the valve by varying the size of gap through which the oil must flow to exit the shocker chamber)

My understanding is that the range of supplied current to the coil is 250 milliamps (1/4 Amp) to 2 Amps. Towards the upper end of this range, the pre-tensioning force is increased and the ride becomes "harder" (sports mode) and the opposite happens at the 250 milliamp end which is "soft" mode. Normal (I guess) would be in the centre of the range.

What this means (I guess) is that the adaptation channels in your previous admap establishes a different pre-tensioning starting point. The higher you make the settings, the "stiffer" the ride - I guess. Not sure if you can select a negative current value to "soften" the ride
