    Traffic on MK7.5 Discovery Pro

    Hi All,

It doesnt look like the traffic program is working in my Golf R.

RDS is enabled and traffic program is ticked, but no traffic data. Apologies for the poor photos.

Images dont work for me Now they do All I have ever got is when there is traffic problems the road changes to red where the problem is. Cant remember if it gave a message or not but it might have.

As I live out in the country it doesnt happen very often But if you look at the map it shows congestion in red where the road is

    @Allegiance: Hi.

Problem could be from a number of causes!

First:as you have implied, the actual data for TP is delivered to your radio (MIB unit) via RDS - which you have enabled. In Victoria, the facility is provided by SUNA and their coverage map here (select "check coverage", then "Victoria") suggests that there is coverage on the Geelong-Melbourne highway in your picture.

I'm guessing of course, but it could be that the coding for Traffic Management Information (TMC) on the MIB unit might not be correct (just a hunch based on the slash through "TMC" on the top-right of your last picture).

Some time ago, I wrote-up an instruction set for enabling TMC in Australia on mk7s. If you have a diagnostic cable/dongle like VCDS, or OBD11 - it might be prudent to check the values of the adaptation-channel and the long-code Byte/Bit here.

But perhaps an easy first try might be to reset the MIB and see if anything changes; with the MIB turned-on, press and keep holding-down the ON/OFF button until the MIB turns-off - then turns-ON again. You might need to re-establish the options on your screenshots after the reset.

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.

Maybe needs to do this with an OBDEleven

Enable Traffic Information (TMC) on Headunit
This enables the ‘Traffic’ button to work on the headunit, and will use radio frequency data to display nearby traffic information. Once activated, in may take over an hour for the initial messages to appear.

Select Control Unit 5F (Information Electrical)
    Adaptations
Change Fee Based Traffic Information (TMC) value to ‘1024’
Next, in the normal radio settings, enable ‘Traffic Programme (TP)’ and RDS

If you get an error, turn the headunit OFF and try again.

Wait a day or two, Suna has been known to drop out for no reason and just reappear.
