    Sudden high oil Consumption

Have a 2014 Gti Performance with 102000km travelled. Suddenly in last 1500km, high oil usage, yellow engine light, limpo mode. Runs very rough. Replaced VPC. Any ideas?

    Do you mean PCV?

If it's gone into money light/limp there should be codes. What does it say?

    Hi Brad,
Yes, apologies ...PCV. I will get the codes, as I am not near the car currently.

Never got the error code, but apparently the problem was a loose coil. Was installed correctly, but not making contact properly apparently. I don't see this explanation as clarifying the excessive oil consumption at all. I am fetching the car later today, with a placatory offer of observe for another 1000km, and let us know.
    Sigh .....

To add ...apparently, following a thorough check, nothing else was found. I feel that once they found something, they went no further.
I a sure I will be adding to this story ...watch this space

Well the loose coil would explain the engine running rough/limp mode/engine light on dash etc.

The fact that there was no oil consumption issue previously, then after travelling 100,000km now all of a sudden there is (and assuming its not an oil leak) then I am curious as to whats wrong. The faulty ignition coil would not have any effect on oil consumption, so something else must be at play here.

Any visible smoke out the exhaust and/or turbo whine? My thoughts are whether the turbo is dead/dying and oil is burning and going out the exhaust. Usually the smoke is pretty obvious though. I know the early Mk7 GTI/R's had turbo issues and they revised the turbo.

    What about the service history?
    Driving regime?
    Tuned or not tuned?
    Original owner?

    Hi Lucas,
Yes, there is some white smoke under acceleration. No turbo whine, no poor performance currently, as that factor was resolved by PCV. Has APR tune, for over 2 years. Whilst I may drive quickly, no track days etc. I seldom exceed 5000rpm. My wife usually drives the car.
There is no sign of an oil leak at all. Exhaust and back of car have a lot of black "soot".

    Hi Transporter,
To add, have always had VW dealership servicing, until a year ago, when I tried an Independent.
I have owned the car from new.

Limpo problem re-occurred end of last week. Dealership are keeping the car for "a few more days" for technical testing, but believe it is a coil pack problem, so have been replaced.
I will still have to track oil consumption over 1000km, once I get it back.
