Strange Noises

Hi Guys,

Having some issues with my Golf that i hope you can help me with.

Hearing clicking noises on start up of car. From doing research sounds as though it could be a failing DMF.

Also had squeaking belt/pulley sounding noise through acceleration of the car.

Sometimes there is a brief 1-2 second electrical/mechanical winding noise between gears. This is normally when car is on a hill or accelerated a bit harder than usual. The Auto hold button is not being used or engaged when i hear this.

The car is a 2016 92tsi Golf. Automatic transmission. 52k on the odometer.

If it is the DMF, would this also cause the brief electrical/mechanic noise i sometimes hear between gears?

Hi and welcome. With only 52,000km I doubt you would have a failing dual mass flywheel - but you never know.

Any chance you could use your phone to try and record the sounds and upload to Youtube then share the link on here?

I know the 7 speed DSG's as found in the 92TSI are a bit noisy when changing up/down gears and are reasonably common to have fork issues in the transmission.

You might be better off taking it to one of the many VW specialist mechanics in Sydney to be diagnosed. What area are you in?
