Hello All
Can someone please tell me which model/year was the first GTI to have Stop Start. I have searched but unable to find a definitive answer
Cheers
Steven

So pleased VW have given the driver an OFF button for Stop Start unTech!
Just think about the stress on the starting system and battery, let alone a cold engine.
Grasping at straws to meet Euro emissions.
Yep i turned it off permanently using Carista when i bought my car. I absolutely hate the stop/start function.
Start-stop cars have different batteries to cope and only run the function when certain conditions are met - one of which is that the engine has to be within its normal range for temperature and pressures. They even check against expected load from the A/C to make sure the car is safe.
Having said that, my Mazda 3 has it and it’s only ‘saved’ 300km on 19,000km (according to it) and I’m quite happy that my i30N doesn’t have it at all but still meets Euro emissions targets!

I think SS came in at the first MK7 face lift, our PP has it and it was one of the first face lift cars. It has never failed to work the way it was supposed and has never given any trouble and it is never turned off.
And unfortunately these 'different' batteries cost a lot more than your standard. I was just quoted $435 for a replacement for the Golf R. Combined with the additional wear on the starter motor and pathetic amount of 'petrol savings' I'm stopping just short of calling the entire feature a car company conspiracy.
No need to spend a fortune on batteries for vehicles with a Start/Stop function.
You can purchase a Delkor EFB LN3 - 70EFB for $279.95 at Every Battery.

That's a great find - thank you
