NICE! You have to go to Stuttgart too! Porsche and Mercedes-Benz museums are there. Great stuff.

It just doesn't justify the huge premium price, especially with MB tackling the GTI near enough to head on with the A250.
Fair enough the price difference is pretty mental and seeing the next GTI will be shedding quite a bit of weight compared to the mk6, I think it might just be RWD lovers that would get them and perhaps badge snobs. I'm fairly short (~5" 9') so most cars I've tried I fit fine in them (including the 1-series albeit the previous model from 2007). Exclusions being the backseat of a Mini Cooper :/

I like the 1 series too on paper. What is not to like? Small dimensions for city street parking, great engines and outstanding performance with promising fuel economy.

Until you look at the car's exterior AND interior. Someone wrote "it has looks only a mother could love". I just say it's so f@..... Ugly there is no way you would get me into one.

Has anyone seen BMW interiors recently? VW Golf and Audi leave these for shame... Plus BMWs are missing a few gadgets when compared to... Ooh let's say a Golf!

The looks did it in for me and I did not get a 1 series. Instead i put a deposit on a 3 series and even then I think the interior does not compare to the Golf. The Golf looks so classy and is so ergonomic.... Everything the BMW is not.

Well it can be classy (but still not ergonomic), but classy will send you broke by ticking lots of options.

I hate the 1 series exterior so much i was willing to put up with the lardiness of a bigger car and now have to do a severe reorg of the garage just to fit the 3 series in! Every time i see one i have to look at the driver to see what poor unfortunate put themselves up to this misfortune.

So let's exclude fugly cars we wouldn't want to be seen dead in :p

We can add it back if they improve the styling with the LCI :-p

Ps rumour is the 2 series will look much better than the 1.

I was talking about the 1 series coupe actually. But in either case, the front end of both cars is pretty awful. But the 1 series coupe has a nice shape and a nice rear end, 135i has a mental engine, light and with a great RWD chassis. Plus you can have a 135i (with a proper manual gearbox) for around $70k new, or from $40k used. Stuff spending loads more on an M3. Go visit DMS and flash it up to 270kW, happy days.

Never mind comparing the 1 series to the Golf, even Hyundai these days are doing better.

If the Veloster is mentioned at all in this thread, it will become a hate thread from me ie the veloster copying the DS3 in almost everyway.

My impression is that the veloster is a cheap rip-off of a scirocco combined with a Renault Megane RS, but styled by someone with sight impediment. I don't see much of the DS3 in it tobe honest - but trust me, that is a good thing!

To me I see the front of a DS3 mixed with the back of a C4 coupe. They even announced the rag-top convertible thing a several months after Citroen announced the cabrio for the DS3... Same goes for the turbo veloster and the DS3 Racing...But I'll take your comment to be a good thing

I just realised I better stop this before I go over the top lol.

On a side note has anyone driven the new A-class yet? I'm still waiting on local users to comment on the car before I judge the car myself.
