    Static cornering lights

Hi guys, my MY15 GTI just has halogen lights, and does not have any form of cornering light. The dealers tell me the halogen equipped Golfs don't have them but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that there should be a static light, presumably using the fog lights. Is this something that can just be activated via VAGCOM?

    Merlin: Hi.

I'm surprised that the MY15 GTI Halogen fittings don't have static corning lights - my bog-standard MY13 TSI had them factory fitted. But then, I have never been able to fathom how the marketing boffins at VW Australia make these types of decisions - probably in a darkened room with a Ouija board and smoking ganja weed cigarettes (let me leave you that mental image)!

Anyway, as to your question, it most certainly can (and should) be done with a VCDS cable. The Leuchte programming changes are very simple, but there may be some additional adaptation channels in the BCM that require tweaking (for the steering wheel turn-on/ turn-off angles. I'll have a look at my database and report back

Merlin: OK, had a quick look at the admap for the BCM on my car and here's what I think:
    1. There don't appear to be any specific adaptation channels devoted to the steering wheel angles for the static cornering lights. I suspect that the BCM uses the settings for AFS (Advanced Frontlighting System that is used for dynamic cornering on HID headlight fittings). All the admaps in my database have the AFS pre-set as default (regardless of whether HIDs are fitted), so I'm guessing (hoping) that your BCM is similarly coded.
    2. I've manufactured (guessed) how the two Leuchte-sets for the left/right fog lights have been set-up by the factory in your car. If my hunch is correct, your car should have the "old settings" shown in the tables below. You must check that my guess is correct and If I've erred, please provide feedback.
    3. The tweak instructions are as follow:

    1. Select 09 - Central Electr control module
    2. Select Security Access - 16 from the "Open Controller" screen
    3. Enter the magic number 31347 and return to the "Open Controller" screen
    4. Select Adaptation - 10 from the "Open Controller" screen
    5. From the pull-down button check that the default settings for the adaptation channels shown in the table below are as indicated in the Old setting column. Use the "search box to find the correct Leuchte channels
    6. Change the two Leuchte channels depicted in the table below to the values in the New Settings column. Don't confuse the new settings with Abblendlicht links/rechts command - the two may look similar, but they are very different in their functions

Wow, thanks DV52, that's a lot of trouble you've gone to! For my next question, where can I get the software and cable these days? Older posts say Dubaddiction but I don't see it there any longer. Alternatively, anyone in Sydney with the gear willing to help a Golfie out? Name your drink of choice.
