    Hi.

thanks for sharing the method to quiet the soundaktor without physically disconnecting it! I'm new to the GTI and keen to make some nice changes to the car. If I replace the exhaust the least thing I want is a fake engine sound interfering .

I assume the VCDS changes an be made by the dealership/service department? I'll print the instructions just in case and take them in .

The car has a nice natural tone already so I don't understand why they need to add this. At least they haven't just made it totally synthetic with options to choose the car sound you want :/ .... that just seems really lame.

I have laughed for years now at the folks that get all huffy about a device that improves the interior sound of the vehicle and does not ever get annoying. All it took was one person to think it was bad somehow, and now everyone, without evidence, insists it must go. It was not developed and specified without significant evaluation that customers prefer the sound with it more than without. It is certainly staying in my Mk6 R.

Hahaha depends. If comfort is your thing, it is great. If you think your a racecar driver, then it is bad because it sounds like a boring european car. :p

I disconnected mine in the Mk 6 for a while but reconnected it because I enjoyed it. That said I meant to do the switch thing so I could turn it on or off depending on my mood and driving style, but is never got around to it. Don't see the point now as the car is going in 3 months.

I think being able to switch it on and off is best compromise. I think I'll do that on the Mk 7 maybe.

I've noticed a Driving Mode setting in my MY16 GTI which allows the 'Interior Engine Sound' to be set to Normal/Sport/Eco.

I'm not sure I noticed it in the MIB I system I had earlier & wondering if it's new to MIB II?

If so, it's a bonus tweak for those who don't want to hear the fake engine noise from the Soundaktor.

Ralfi - in Eco mode is the soundaktor completely off? Would be great if you could share your observations on sound differences between normal/sport/Eco.

Hey Ralfi, would it be possible to upload a picture of the individual settings screen?

Would be a great addition to the MIBII!

That is definitely a new option! Never seen that on any previous (MIB I) models. Bonus Nifty little option, definitely looking forward to that one when I get mine!

Side note: That screen resolution looks fantastic in the pictures! So much crisper.

    Thanks Ralfi!
