Hi there, did anyone manage to take a picture of the actual plug that was disconnected? I had a look at my engine bay and would want to make sure I am disconnecting the right thing before giving it a go. Thanks!

Took my bro for a spin last night.
He said it sounds like a WRX. Lol

I actually don't mind the sound so won't disconnect it.

Thanks 46neil. Appreciate the effort of getting the pic. I must be blind but I'm still struggling to locate this in the engine bay. Might need to take a picture of it and get you to point out where exactly it is.

Someone on another thread also mentioned that instead of removing this you could tune it from 0-100 in terms of volume/intensity.

I'm thinking at this very early stage of dialling my R soundakator down to say 50-60% (I'd like to keep some of the burble/growl so wouldn't unplug it entirely). This looks like a VCDS tweak that requires a dealer fix or anyone in Melbourne with the expertise.

I'm thinking precisely the same thing. It would defeat a little of the purpose to get an R if it weren't for that angry little kid in the engine bay that just wouldn't settle down

I just find that at low speeds (between 50 - 60kmh) and when the foot is off the accelerator the humming sounds gets a little too much as the car goes to a rolling stop from D5 > D2. Anyone else feel the same?

Finally disconnected mine a couple of weeks ago, best thing I could've done. No longer sounds like a horrible WRX. Unfortunately it's still just an in-line 4 so is never going to sound great but at least it sounds like what it is, not like a flat-4. You can't hear any turbo whistle which is shame, especially coming from an XR6 Turbo where it was very noticeable.

Anyway, it's much better without the soundaktor disconnected. You can now actually hear the exhaust note properly which has quite a decent sound to it.
