    Side mirror glass fell off!

The passenger side mirror glass fell off our Mk7 while driving...

I would greatly appreciate advice on where to buy a good quality replacement please.
Would I require the backing plate plus glass, or just the mirror which I could glue on?

It seems this is a relatively common issue, but could not find any info on here.

    Cheers!

The glass and carrier plate comes as one piece; if it's like the ones I have seen, the glue on the glass has failed, leaving just the carrier remaining.

Without blind spot monitoring, the part number is 5G0 857 521 A or 5G0857521

You can probably find cheaper alternatives, eBay has non-genuine ones as low as $20 with AU stock lol

Genuine one here; maybe even check the dealer for pricing Mirror glass inc carrier plate for Volkswagen Golf MK7 (LEFT) - 5G0857521– VAGPARTS Australia

Do you still have the eBay seller details?
Are you happy with the quality?
Was this a 'glue on' version, or did it have the carrier plate with heating element?

It's fine for the price, came with the carrier and it's heated as well.

The mirror delaminating has happened on both my mirrors, I was able to save the mirrors before totally falling off and used some Scotch Extreme double sided tape I had from another project to put the mirror back on. This has held longer on the first mirror then original glue. Sadly I dropped and chipped a tiny bit on the drivers mirror, lucky its only noticeable to me. lol

Great link @Gutoneto a new mirror is as cheap as a roll of double sided. I might consider replacing the chipped mirror
