Selling MK7 Golf R with or without performance parts

    Gday all,

I will be shortly listing my MK7 Golf R for sale, it has a few performance parts on it. What is the general consensus to leave all the parts on it and sell or return to standard? Not really looking at it from a financial perspective.

    Any advice or tips welcome.

    Thanks
    Mark

I think if they're quality parts then better to be honest and sell with the parts and presumably provide the stock items with the sale.

It won't appeal to everyone of course, but I'd prefer this over looking at a stock car that I then work out has just been returned to stock for sale. There's a reasonable number of R adverts confirming the mods done.

As you said it's not a financial thing, they're pretty much worthless in a car sale, but might get you a deal quicker if someone's looking for something already set up.

A standard car will always appeal to a wider audience of potential buyers. To some people, any kind of modified car screams that it has been thrashed, even though it may not be the case. But for the right person, the mods can be an advantage and make the car more desirable to purchase over another (unmodified) example.

In the past few years, I have sold a modified Mk6 Golf R and also a modified Mk6 GTI. Both cars sold to the first person who looked at them and the Golf R now resides in Tasmania and the GTI now lives in Brisbane.

100% agreed on a standard car.

I'd just be pretty dirty if I'd bought a modified car returned to stock without being made aware of it.

Thanks for the replies. I will likely list it on the forum first see if anyone is interested. I hear what you saying about returning it to standard which may appear to be deceiving the buyer, I would disclose the fact that it was modified. I was thinking more that some people don't want a car with those modifications, ie being too loud etc.

If you're not in a rush then definitely worth getting it up on the forums, the enthusiasts will be keen.

Agreed you are limiting the market, but if you have the time you may want to advertise with the mods there, and then if that isn't going anywhere part it out, return to stock and let it go that way.

    GLWS!
