ATM my DR500GW is running a fast Sandisk Ultra 128GB and previously had a Sandisk 64 gb Class 10 and prev to that had a Samsung 32gb class 10 .. Not too bad for cameras that are only supposed to run only up to 32Gb cards

I did have trouble when I foolishly bought a cheap Samsung supposedly 64 Gb card off Gumtree and it proved to be a doctored 8gb fake. Apart from that havent had troubles. Even lent the cards to my kids to use in their cameras on a recent overseas trip. No problems there. One of the Blackvue cards I got wasnt too flash though.
Here's some info, if you're interested: 64GB Micro SD cards for Blackvue DR650GW-2CH,DR600GW and DR750LW-CH (Page 1) / The Best 64GB Micro SD for Blackvue DR650GW-2CH,DR600GW and DR750LW-CH Dashcams / Blackvue UK Forum

The potential to overheat and destroy a $500 camera is what I was most concerned with.

I'm using DR650GW-2CH. Great camera, BTW, running one in the wife's car as well. I would post video of my trip, as there's some pretty great footage, but you'd hear me yammering on to myself about all kinds of rubbish.

I get the feeling this is turning into a dash cam thread...

Yes that one will take 64 g cards, the older ones shouldnt but do. I have run a DR400 and my DR500 in temps from well below freezing in Canada to over 45 C in USA deserts and they performed faultlessly.
My present card is a Samsung EVO 128gb and camera doesnt seem to run any hotter than usual

I'm using 64gb cards, and am in Australia. And we have the occasional 40 deg Celsius day here, and plenty above 35.

I'm finding 64 enough, particularly with the 'event capture' feature and automated cloud back up for 'events'.

Anywho, if a manufacturer recommends not using a particular type of card, I tend to follow their advice. That being said, I wouldn't bother with their branded cards, as they're just rebranded from someone else's factory anyway.

I assumed you weren't from you post, my bad. Obviously you're just well-travelled.

I think if this thread has established anything, it's Blackvue's good, 64gb SD cards are good (provided they aren't under a passenger seat), and Australia can be hot.SD card lost between seat and centre console

I'm still wondering which car make is going to get a bit with it and build at least a front dash cam into the mirror. I wouldn't mind one but don't want to mess around with wiring, my current car creaks and rattles enough from a "pro" install of front parking sensors.

A Blackvue 650 or a Mini 086 would be far better.

No need to be polite I don't own one, nor am I affiliated with them. Just saw them the other day and thought the idea is pretty cool given how neat the finished product is.

It's a shame the image quality may not be up to standards. Hopefully newer versions of the product will incorporate better imaging sensors
