Will be interesting to see what sort of gains you guys can get out of the TDI as they are becomming more and more popular.
Hopefully they fixed the injector issues (may only be the 125kw TDI's)

    Will be interesting to see.

A test bed for chassis mods, or engine development as well?

The injector issue was only in MK5 125TDI PD engine, so it's long gone.

Guy, I am wondering if I should get the highline TDI and tune it or wait for the GTD. so with that in mind, is it worth tuning a highline TDI and chipping the engine? Will its power output exceed the GTD? Will a tuned GTD output more than the TDI?

Considering what happened between the mk5 and mk6 twincharge tunes, those turned out to be the same. So would it be safe to assume a tuned GTD may well be the same or very little over a tuned TDI?

Ps if I go for a TDI will have to update my nick :p

Tuned tdi's give similar power and torque to standard mk5 & 6 GTD's, though it appears the mk7 GTD will have an extra 10 kw over the current model (more info here: Mk7 Golf GTD gets 135kW )

I think you need to bare in mind that the GTD is not simply a tdi with more power and torque, there are further refinements to the package (both mechanical and cosmetic) which make the car more suited to the powerplant.

Edit: A tuned GTD will certainly make more power than a tuned tdi.

This. The GTD and TDI engines are not mechanically identical with a different factory tune; the GTD will likely have a larger turbocharger, strengthened internals, etc etc.

If you're looking for performance and can wait till (at least) the end of the year, you should wait.
