    Rear Interior Light

    Hi, I have a 2020 GTI and have noticed that the back seat interior light remains on while driving.

    Is that normal, I fear the answer is NO. Has anyone else come across this ?

    It's normal when you have it switched on (even if that wasn't your intention). The switches above the rear view mirror can be a bit confusing (tricked me once). Have a fiddle with them and you should be able to switch it off.

    @jdw: Hi.

    Yes, as per the previous reply - it can be confusing!!

    The overhead switches work like this:
    = Switches the front interior lights ON/OFF.
    Attachment 55555 REAR = Switches the rear interior lights ON/OFF.
    = Switches the door contact switch ON/OFF.
    The interior lights are switched on automatically when the vehicle is unlocked, a door is opened, or the vehicle key is removed from the ignition lock.
    The light will go out a few seconds after all doors are closed, the vehicle is locked, or the ignition is switched on.
    & = Switches the respective reading light ON/OFF on either/both the Driver, or Passenger side

    My hunch (guess really based on your few words) is that if the rear lights remain turned-ON when the 2nd switch above is turned-OFF, there might be a problem with the switch itself -maybe?. It's a very simple single-throw, single-pole switch, so not difficult to diagnose

    Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.
