I think it should be fine, Philips is a decent brand for the LED's, the only thing I would look out for is that the led's are CANBUS error free, which shouldn't be a problem with Philips. Ask them in SuperCheap they should at least have one person that knows or can check.
Interested in these. If you do fit them, can you take some comparison photos pls?
Also, looks like just the LEDs will throw error. You will need these if you want error free: http://www.philips.com.au/c-p/18957X2/warning-canceller-led-car-lamp/overview
Maybe you can change the bulb type with VCDS? Not sure if there would be other issues tho. (Refer table 7 on Page 18: https://www.dropbox.com/s/74b00lkimj...n_5_2.pdf?dl=0)
Does the Jetta also take W21W for rear lights?

^^^^ Agent thumb: You could use one of those "ballast resistors" to fool the BCM into thinking that there is still an incandescent lamp installed in the car, but they do get hot and placement of the resistor is very important
You are correct, changing the "Lasttyp" channel setting does generally fix lamp error DTCs for retrofitted LEDs. But for those stubborn cases when even this modification won't work - one of the new discoveries that I have made from playing around with a functioning BCM in my test jig is how to crow-bar fix the lamp-error DTC.
It's a simple matter of setting the adaptation channel (3)-Leuchte ****** -Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC * to Hex00. As you will know, there is one of these adaptation channels for each Leuchte-set, so it's just a matter of finding the correct Leuchte-set
