    PCV Valve (Oil seperator) replacement.

I have a MY16 110 tsi Golf and need to replace the PCV Valve. Is it a dyi job or one best done by a mechanic? I couldn't find any videos on YouTube specific to the 1.4 tsi.

hmmm........ if your mean a 1.4l direct injection engine (turbocharger), then other than having to lie on your back under the car while oil weeps from hole (when the PCV valve is actually being swapped) - it looks straight foward according to the steps below!

    Don

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.

^ that appears to be the oil pressure sensor, not the PCV.

The PCV is generally located on top of the engine somewhere. This image I found of the 1.4TSI engine shows the PCV valve being just beside the oil cap.

The part number should be 04E 103 175

    Hi,

What are the symptoms that made you believe that you have a problem with the PVC valve? As far as I know the PCV is integrated to the valve cover and work together with the oil separator on the front side of the engine, but I may be wrong.

I've been in this quest to find out for the last 2 months.

I have some oil consumption and smoke for while now when the engine is on his vacum phase (normally going downhill, foot out of the pedal and the moment I put my foot down I have a puff of smoke on the back of the car), the compression is totally fine. The suspicion is that could be valve stem seals (no smoke when I turn on the car after hours parked or in the morning) but every mechanic that I spoke says that for the milage (about 100k) is hard to be it. Most of them say to get rid of the car or replace the engine to fix the problem.

Sorry but I can't accept none of the two options, I think most of them don't give a f... and they always look to the easy way to get cars moving instead of find what the problem is.

I spent hours checked the turbo, intake, charge pipe and and they are all dry. I can hear some pinging from idle to about 2k RPM and then clears out.

The valve that Lucas_R mentioned is one way valve from the air box to the valve cover after pass the air filter to help to equalize the pression inside the engine.

BTW, my problem started about 6-8m ago out of nowhere. Before that I had to top up 0,5l every 6k km, now is about 1l for every 1.2k-1.5k km. I normally drive around 900-1000km per week. Oil and filter changes every 10k km and always BP or Caltex 98.
