Hi All,
Silly question: how do I select the parking mode: parallel or perpendicular in park assist?
Thanks.
They actually called me at work to tell me they couldn't see what was wrong. So I went there, took a technician with me, headed to the closest woolies to demonstrate how 80% of the times, the car would go for the wrong spot .... And of course, it now worked every time!
The technician told me they cleared a fault related to park assist and that it was very likely the reason why it worked now.
It's worked ever since.

Press once, you get parallel, press twice you get perpendicular. I believe perpendicular is only available on cars with DAP2

I will try mine again tonight but yesterday I pressed it twice and it just turned it on and off for parallel parking. I have the driver assistance pack so I am meant to have both perpendicular and parallel.
Hey Kiaorana, perpendicular is available for both DAP and DAP2
Both our cars have it.

No worries
The parallel park function is brilliant, I use it all the time (I consider myself a pretty good parker, but the system often does it quicker than I can and with much greater accuracy). I would say it does the job 9.5/10 times.
Perpendicular parking however, the system does some pretty silly things. Where I can get the car into the spot in one go, the car would often go back and forth a few times before fully parking the car. It's almost like it has to line the car perfectly straight spot before it'll back into the spot. So I never use it for perpendicular parking. Tho I can see it being a great system for someone who is not very confident with parking themselves

My auto parking in reverse parallel was fine.
Reverse bay parking on both sides was faulty.
Would miss spots and at times tried to park in occupied spots.
Under warranty VW replaced the parking aid sensor.
All seems fine again.
Hi all, I know this topic might of been mentioned before but I couldn't see anywhere which had a solution.
Basically happened twice within a week now. The message "Park pilot is not available". I can hear the camera cap move but no back up camera displays on screens. Each time I have to switch the car off or hold the mib power button for 10 seconds or so to restart it. This is on a 3 months old MK7 R.
My question is, has there been any concrete solutions around this? Or do I just have to accept this is one of the joys of having a crappy mib 2 system? Never really experienced this annoyance with other cars with a back up camera. Thanks all!
It's a known bug that is yet to be fixed.
I had my software upgraded to version 624 (I told the dealer I wanted it done) but it hasn't fixed this or the on-going CarPlay issues.
AFAIK, there's no ETA on a fix either.
