Oil change interval. Time versus kms

The sticker on my windscreen says 180,000 K‘s or at six months which ever comes first. My question is this. How strict is the six-month interval. it’s synthetic oil which is meant to last better than spirit oil. Is a few weeks beyond the date okay or should I be putting it in ASAP?

If its a VW its 15000 or 12 months. Whichever comes first. What is the sticker for engine oil or tranny.

4 weeks over the 12 months isnt out of the way . What have you been doing for the last 150000 or so

I was a bit hasty with my original post. Service interval has always been 15,000 k’s. Service sticker from local garage reminder of next service. I recently bought a new car and as a result I’m not doing as many k’s in the golf Which means that the time interval is going to come into play before the kms travelled.

Because local garage is obviously not familiar with VW service schedule or cant read whats written in the service book for service regime.

Maybe they are not the best place to use What oil are they putting in the car. IS it a VW approved oil and correct viscosity or another thing they have just thought would do.

NO it isnt its 15000km OR 12 MONTHS WHICHEVER COMES FIRST We are not on long interval servicing in Australia.

My wifes car is 8 years old and last service was the 105k one Car has done 26,000km

The vast majority of Volkswagen vehicles - including the Golf, Tiguan and Amarok - have a service schedule that requires maintenance every 12 months or 15,000km whichever is first.

As an indicator your service indicator in the dash will count down from 365 days till next service

But was it VW approved 504/507 oil ? This is important for VWs.
