    I called and they said they drill them at time of creation, so can do any pattern I want.

    If you’re after traction, why are you looking at wider rims and stock width tyres?

    Keep the stock rims, put some wider (235 or 245) Michelin’s on them The Official Mk7 Wheel Thread

    Traction may be helped by firmer suspension too...

    That is a fair point, but it is a combination of both. I definitely want more traction but also want to get nicer rims. So looking for a compromise, I would much prefer the new rims and then 245s on them, but if I have to do 225 or 235 to fit into guards then I will just make sure to get Michelins or something high end as mentioned by other ppl to compensate for lack of tyre width.
