There are some cars running some wide wheels and lower offsets in the 35 range from memory, one not too long ago, but they had camber plates and likely guard work to tuck the wheels back in. Alternately you'd want some widebody arches.

    Would love to see that!
Yeah that is fair enough. It sucks that there are no wheels that have et40 that are concave or deep dish depending on the style. Can I get away with 8.5 et20? Not legally, but more from a looks perspective? Happy to roll guards if required, but also just wouldnt lower the car that much.

Honestly if I could keep the stock wheels from my mk7.5 with tyres that will actually keep traction then I would, but I have stage 1 tune and going to do stage 2 in the next few weeks.

The problem with concave/dish is you really want to lower to complete the look, otherwise it will get an SUV look happening.

Everyone's definition of flush unfortunately is different (even though logically flush should be flush), so the forums are littered with varying wheel sizes claiming it. Unless you want to do a lot of work I don't think you want to be going under ET35, and even then over 8 wide you'll likely not be legal without work.

I understood from above, and the other thread, that you were looking to stay fairly stock in that regard - I'd honestly stick to the 40-45 offset range and 8.5 wide. You would probably be a few mm over on the front based on other people's measurements, but it would be marginal. Then again I'm pretty conservative in what *I'd* do - I love when others go over the top.

What wheels are you trying to go for?

    Thanks for the info.

In re3gards to wheels, I will decide based on what I can get and what looks good. As I mentioned was trying to work out the width and offset first, because some wheels look absolutely crap with et over 30.

Certainly they can lack from a concave perspective - but I think there would be lucky to be double digit wheels in this entire thread that would have had an offset much below 30 (although there are plenty I would not have a clue on).

I think work out the different styles you're looking at, and then hit the Golf friendly specs in to google and see what you can find - you may end up finding something you like. Ultimately though I would be looking at something 8.5 wide with a wider tyre (255+? i.e. like RS3 spec) to maybe curb a bit of the traction issue.

Going much beyond that will give you the looks, but undo the work you're doing on looking for performance.
