I have noticed you are the man in the know when it comes to wheels.
So i have a question.
I have on order a golf R in White Silver, but I don’t want to run the 19’s it comes with.
I want to run 18’s as the roads where I will be driving are rubbish.
I really like the white on black look with a Golf.
So i was wondering what wheels would you recommend that are:
1. 18x8 ET45 5x112
2. Light and strong
3. No more than $2500 set
4. Black
5. No more than 6 spokes.

I know this is rather specific but if I am going to change them I might as well get the exact ones I want.....

I'm assuming by 'no more than 6 spokes' that the common five spoke designs are in - what about split/y spoke wheels?

The budget is very solid for those specs so you'll definitely be able to pick up something quality.

Some you may wish to consider:
1. BBS SX in crystal black, 18 x 8 ET44 (given it's x 8 that will still be fine)
2. OZ Leggera HLT in black, 18 x 8 ET48 (I had the grigio version on my GTI, first set in Australia)
3. OZ Ultraleggera in black, 18 x 8 ET50

These are split spokes so may or may not meet definition, and the BBS probably will be fairly heavy (albeit strong, and in line with OEM). These ones I can include in my potential group buy so hopefully can come with some better than usual discounts from my contact.

Outside of that I'd be looking at:
1. Neuspeed RSe52 18 x 8 ET45 (these are big in the USA and are probably unbeatable for price/weight/quality)
2. Enkei Kojin 18 x 8 ET45 (these are also quality light wheels with solid rep - also RPF1, TXS, TX5, TY-5)
3. Weds RN05M 18 x 8 ET45 (the JDM crews might notice you)
4. TSW Rivage 18 x 8 ET45 (Sochi, Mirabeau etc)
5. Borbet F
6. VMR V705 18 x 8 ET45

Best bet is to maybe pop onto something like performancealloys.com in the UK who have a massive range and are pretty reliable/helpful to deal with. You will gain access to a wide range of generally Euro only options. Unfortunately our market - outside the some of the above stuff - is flooded by a lot of no-name garbage that the online stores flog.. I'd steer clear of that.

Could also consider some OEM stuff like Karthoum in black?
