I import furniture from the USA and a 20 foot container is 10 pallets, would be about 80 sets of wheels

All pretty straight forward - the big test is saving enough in freight on a bulk order to cover the time and effort not to mention risk involved.

I offer VWW subscribers a 10% discount on tax/consulting services.

Guess I'd better chuck up tonight's pics - I'm in the hands of the Internet Gods for a while due to change in properties so might be a little slow for a short time. Promise I'll catch up once back online..

Thanks for the offer. I wonder how many people would be interested in a group buy. Pity about the Aussie dollar

Group buys may be a little difficult to organise - especially if you're looking to import wheel brands where there is an existing local wholesaler (Nuespeed distributor is BLK Motorsports/Tyrepower North Melbourne). It may be better contacting the distributor direct and seeing if they would consider bulk/forum discounts and running it that way.

If you're looking at importing larger quantities then you'll get slugged import duties for sure. So the savings from a bulk purchase have to offset the additional costs in bringing in a larger shipment. And as Dutch says there's also the added risk of all the $ tied up if something goes pear shaped. You then have to factor in insurance on the shipment which then reduces the potential savings and making the whole thing less viable.

I'm not trying to put you off at all - I've organised a number of group buys in the past but these are all the things that you've got to consider. You don't want to be the one left carrying the can when all you're trying to do is to do everyone a favour.

    Now back to wheels

    Hey Dutch
guess I saw something about it, but in your experience, running 245, even 255, is possible? On 17 or 18 wheels.

Haven't seen much in the thread about Advan wheels. I have been looking at these and like the look of the Advan RZ's and RS11. Anybody run these or know someone who has? What is the general view on these verse other premium makes such as OZ, Rays, ATS and the like?

Gloss seems to work better. The other attempts to paint the Austin I've seen haven't really grabbed me.
