The red GTI above gets around wheel wise and Porsche seems to be a target with the five spokes above off a Cayenne and below some Crabclaws:

hi guys I've noticed wheel rub at full lock even though I went for the oe spec borbet lw 8x19 et 50 wheels and 235/35 tyres on my R,I'm wondering do vw put steering lock stops on like ford do at the factory if 19" wheels are selected? Because my uk R had the standard 18" Cadiz wheels from new, going to take the wheel off later and see whats rubbing.

sorted! I took the wheel off and found the liner just needed a simple adjustment via the torque screw shown in the pics, sliding the liner to the other end of the screw slot moved it in where it was catching by a good 12mm.

Good catch and thanks for documenting that for the thread.

I'm unaware of any differences with the R on the Mk7, there was definitely a modification to the amount of steering lock on the Mk6 Rs here that came with 19s which was why most dealers would not swap 18s and 19s on stocked cars.

The GTI PP is unlikely to be affected on its 19s as it is only x 7.5 wide - another great reason to ditch the Santiagos and get something a little more aggressive (and better looking).

I had high hopes for these wheels on the Mk7, so much so that about a month ago I almost pulled the trigger on a set of these in 19s. However in execution I'm not totally sold on the look now, while they do have a sports/luxury/OEM feel about them I think they are better suited to Euro sedans. Just my gut feel talking there, debate away..

Wider, more aggressive wheel fitment on MK7 Golf hatch

Picking up my MK 7 TSI hatch tomorrow and would love some help. I'm about to order a set of custom wheels and need to sort out wheel specs. I'm experienced with wheel offsets and widths but not on this platform. I have absolutely no reference. I also heard the MK7 has slightly wider wheel wells than the MK6 so I can't use existing MK6 builds as a guide.

I'm wanting to run the widest wheels as possible with the most aggressive offset as possible, without having to dial in camber, do guard work or run spacers. And stay legal within Australia.

So after saying all that, it probably won't leave me with much haha. I'm planing of lowering the car on H&R super sport springs and happy to run a safe amount of stretch.

So after saying all of that, can anyone share some pics/info that could help me. Is there anyone of there running a similar setup? Any info will be appreciated.

Post up some links of other threads if I've missed them.

    Thanks in advance.

If you can figure offsets etc, why not just throw a tape measure on your car.
One person's idea of legal and widest possible is not the same as the next person
