The ride quality of your original set up is far smoother my nephew has the same vehicle the eiabach spring rating is definitely a lot firmer

Was bored and tried to swap wheels with my brother. These are 18s I forgot the specs, after a hard time trying to get one wheel off, I realized the bore on his wheels aren't big enough for my bolt and.... Wasted our time

No stock at oz Italy for the leggera 19"x8" until October so I've cancelled order,I don't want the et47 8.5"width versions because I'm not planning on touching the ride height and not so keen on the poke look,now looking at other brands.........,

I thought 8.5 et47 would be fairly close to flush, I might be mistaken though. How much poke would you get with your calculations?

Borbet have done OEM wheels in the past for VW and these certainly have that feel about them, right down to taking a VW centre cap on the blue R here. A decent quality wheel but will cost around $2,800 landed to import a set of these in 19s.

Very much liking these in this colour also as grey is available,just checked with wheelbase and they are checking stock in Germany,come in at £1050 in the uk compared to £1700 for the oz leggera they are also flow formed and not a bad weight either,hmmm

I thought 8.5 et47 would be fairly close to flush, I might be mistaken though. How much poke would you get with your calculations?

I think I worked it out at 6mm including the tyre rim protector poking out from the top of the wheel arch.

Searching every evening finally paid off, managed to get these for a steal with only 2000k's travelled on them they're pretty much new. I remember Guy H saying that his GTI lowered on VWR springs with 19x8.5 et51 got a bit of rub up front so a couple of wheel liner screws were removed to alleviate the problem. Might find a few rub issues show up later once the springs settle in?

Great to hear, well done. Definitely want the pics up once fitted.

Given the OEM fit of those wheels and the extra clearance on the Mk7 there should be no rub issues at all.

I have thrown everything at the car bumps ,dips , sharp corners ,with me alone and 3 passengers all good. It was important to me because I don't like things that don't fit properly I suppose I am a. Bit anal that way I love my cars so it has to be right

I think running on 18's and I'm assuming 40 series the ride with eiabach would be similar to stock I'm pretty sure they have the same if not similar spring ratings but I'll check that for you if you like

Our first thread test fit (excluding me balancing a set of Ultraleggeras on reams of paper).. I love it - even if it wasted your time it's good to see.

Must admit I like the design of these and being Borbet they will be decent quality. Assuming as suspected they take the stock VW cap I'd be tempted to keep it OEM looking and do this.

thanks for this thread I would of never even of thought about fitting these borbet's just by looking at them on there own,i did a bit of digging on that R with them on,it's been lowered 25-30mm and has 15mm spacer on the rear and 10mm spacers on the front.i still think they will look good on my standard r though?

Really? It doesn't look lowered by that much over stock. I reckon your car will look fine, spacers can work well with lowering (illegal here in Australia) but I reckon a car looks a bit lower visually if the wheels are tucked a little - it's why say a Highline can look ok on 17s but look a bit stilted on wider 18s-19s. I reckon even my car appears to have more wheel gap with the after market wheels than the Austins (and it's only 7mm extra poke).
