Won't get any arguments from me - I'll only stick with insurers that let me use my repairer to work on the car.

Worth pointing out for the sake of this wheel thread that if you do fit a set of wheels (or other components) that are not legal you could risk losing not only your coverage on the mods but the car itself. Another reason to tread carefully unless buying a Mk7 is the equivalent of choosing lobster for mains to you.

Each state has their own set of rules on what is and isn't, although they are generally fairly similar. This will cover both diameter and width changes, and also require the wheels to sit inside the guards and not foul the bodywork etc.

Definitely worth remembering a lot of the set-ups in this thread will not be legal locally, or will at least require some work to make them legal - if anyone is unsure then check your state's regulations and seek further advice through places like this.
